Mobile gaming can suit very different play preferences, but not because one game combines five distinct styles. Five separate titles—Candy Crush Saga, Monument Valley 2, Stardew Valley, Call of Duty: Mobile and Genshin Impact—illustrate a range of short, focused, long-form, competitive and open-world play. Monument Valley 2: focused, composed puzzles
Monument Valley 2 is a puzzle-adventure built around guided exploration, optical illusions and manipulating architecture. Its designed levels create a more focused, individually paced experience than a repeatable level loop. Stardew Valley: a world to revisit over time

Call of Duty: Mobile: competitive matches
Call of Duty: Mobile offers multiplayer and battle royale, with ranked and seasonal content for players seeking competition and ongoing goals. Activision lists a minimum of 2 GB RAM and Android 6.0 or later, or 2 GB RAM and iOS 15.0 or later. Its controller support applies to Multiplayer and Battle Royale modes, not necessarily every part of the game. Genshin Impact: open-world action and ongoing progression
Genshin Impact combines exploration, quests, combat, character collection and long-running progression in an open-world action RPG. Its mobile requirements make storage an important part of the decision: HoYoverse lists 40 GB of available storage as a minimum and 60 GB as recommended, and warns that storage needs may rise with updates. HoYoverse also says mobile controller support is not currently available. Consult the official Genshin Impact system requirements before downloading; the listed figures are available-storage requirements, not a promised installed game size.

If you want to dip in briefly, a repeatable puzzle may be easier to fit around other activities. A level-based puzzle offers a more focused task. A continuing world or competitive mode is more likely to reward repeated visits, though the amount of time you spend remains your choice.
Decide how much progression you want
For discrete challenges, consider Monument Valley 2. For a routine that develops across many visits, Stardew Valley or Genshin Impact may be a closer match. If improving through competition is the draw, Call of Duty: Mobile provides multiplayer and battle royale modes.

Check controls and device capacity first
Control compatibility is title-specific: Stardew Valley supports external controllers, Call of Duty: Mobile documents controller play in two modes, and Genshin Impact does not currently support mobile controllers. Events and leaderboards add a return-play element to Candy Crush Saga; multiplayer and ranked play make competition central to Call of Duty: Mobile. The other examples emphasize puzzle-solving or solo progression in the descriptions above. Pick the level of competition or shared activity you actually want rather than assuming every mobile game is social.

Are these five styles a research-backed classification?
No single definitive five-style system is established by these game examples. A 2017 study by Holm and Koponen analyzed 700 written digital-game reviews and surveyed 1,717 players. It described five game-dynamics preference categories—“assault,” “manage,” “journey,” “care” and “coordinate”—and seven player types. The authors distinguish preferences for game dynamics from general motivations to play and player behavior. These are findings from that study, not estimates of the mobile gaming market, nor evidence that all players fit fixed categories.
