MO/GO is a powered hiking system from Skip and Arc’teryx that pairs knee-mounted motors and carbon-fiber supports with an Arc’teryx Gamma Pant. It is designed to assist movement on climbs and descents—not an ordinary pair of trousers with a hidden gadget. Skip advertises up to 40% assistance to leg muscles on the way up, but that is a company claim, not an independently verified result.
What are MO/GO powered pants?
MO/GO is outdoor-recreation equipment developed by mobility company Skip in collaboration with Arc’teryx. Arc’teryx integrated the system with its Gamma Pant; the powered components make it a wearable exoskeleton system rather than a standalone clothing feature. Arc’teryx’s launch announcement describes the partnership and apparel integration.

How does the exoskeleton work?
Skip describes compact motors at the knees that assist flexion and extension, with carbon-fiber supports and adjustable cuffs transferring force as the wearer walks. The company says the system is designed to help with uphill movement and support the knees during descents. Components are removable or snap on, and the interface is intended to be simple. What does “up to 40% assistance” mean?
Skip advertises up to 40% assistance to leg muscles while going uphill. The reviewed sources do not establish that figure as an independently verified result or a benefit every wearer will experience. It should be read as Skip’s advertised performance claim, not a clinical measure or guaranteed reduction in effort.

Weight, battery life and range
Skip’s FAQ gives the full system weight as about 2 kg (under 4.5 lb). The same FAQ says a charge can provide 3+ hours or roughly 6 miles of use on steep uphill terrain with full assistance. Both figures are manufacturer specifications; battery life and distance depend on terrain and use, and should not be generalized to every route or assistance setting. Skip’s FAQ says an order includes two batteries and that the battery can be swapped for extended range. It does not establish compatibility or availability for a particular replacement battery.
Skip also says downhill walking recharges the battery. That is a product description, not a guarantee that a particular hike will recover enough charge to offset uphill use.

Is MO/GO a medical device?
No. Skip says MO/GO is not FDA-approved or classified as a medical device. It should not be treated as a cleared therapy or a substitute for medical advice. Skip describes a separate product for neurological conditions as under development and not commercially available; that effort is distinct from MO/GO.

Availability and final pricing are not firmly established in Skip’s current FAQ and product information. The FAQ says Skip is refining industrial design, fit and software before shipping in 2026; product pages invite reservations for the latest version at launch. It does not give a confirmed shipping start, delivery date or current final price, and says delivery details and shipping costs will be provided before deliveries begin. For context only, Futurism reported a planned $5,000 launch-era price and a $500 early-adopter discount in August 2024. Those are historical figures, not confirmation of today’s price or offer. That report also described pants and snap-on exoskeleton components with separate weight figures; those launch-era component figures should not be substituted for Skip’s later FAQ figure of about 2 kg for the system. MO/GO is aimed at hikers seeking powered assistance, but the available specifications do not establish who will benefit most or whether it outperforms other forms of support. It adds motors, supports and batteries to hiking apparel, so buyers should weigh the system’s stated mass and use-dependent range against their route, fit needs and willingness to carry powered equipment.

Skip says trekking poles are compatible and that some users pair them with MO/GO for additional support. Poles, passive knee braces and ordinary hiking pants serve different functions; the sources do not provide comparative testing that would justify calling one option superior.
