Then place it on a flat surface and interact with it to sit. The release notes do not show the crafting-grid layout, so use the in-game recipe display for the precise arrangement.
What you need to craft a cushion
- Three wool slabs
- All three slabs must be the same color
Mojang confirms that recipe for Java Edition 26.3 and Bedrock Edition 26.40. The notes do not specify how to arrange the slabs in the crafting grid. Check the recipe book or in-game recipe display for the layout instead of relying on an unverified pattern.

Craft and place the cushion
- Collect three wool slabs of one color.
- Open the crafting interface and consult its recipe display to arrange the slabs.
- Craft the cushion, then place it on a flat surface.
Java 26.3 notes say cushions align horizontally to the grid and sit vertically on top of their supporting surface.
Sit on the cushion
After placing it, interact with the cushion to sit. The release notes do not specify a universal key or button; the interaction depends on your platform and control settings.

Colors and edition-specific notes
Both cited editions document 16 colored cushion variants. The exact release notes cited here cover Java Edition 26.3 and Bedrock Edition 26.40; they do not establish availability or mechanics in earlier versions.
Bedrock 26.40 also lists a known issue in which cushions were not generating in Abandoned Camps, and says they could be found in the creative inventory. That is a version-specific note, not confirmation of behavior in later releases. Java’s 26.3 notes describe the cushion’s placement and sitting behavior; the Bedrock notes cited here confirm its recipe and colors but do not give those same placement details.
