Milos Kerkez’s numbers make the most sense when compared with other Premier League left-backs from the same season and through the role each player is asked to perform. In Opta Analyst’s 2024–25 snapshot through 28 matchdays, Kerkez stood out for overlapping runs and a high average touch position; those figures describe his Bournemouth role at that point, not a timeless ranking or his later Liverpool seasons.
What Kerkez’s 2024–25 Bournemouth numbers show
Opta Analyst’s 2025 analysis of the 2024–25 Premier League season, through 28 matchdays, recorded 237 overlapping runs and 83 open-play crosses for Kerkez. His average touch position was 57.8 metres from his own goal line, and 58.8% of his successful passes were played in the opposition half. Taken together, these measures describe a left-back frequently advancing and participating high up the pitch; they do not, by themselves, establish that he was the league’s best left-back.

Defensive work needs its own measure. In the same snapshot, Opta reported Kerkez had won 38 of 62 “true tackles,” a 61.3% success rate under the provider’s definition. That percentage has a different denominator and meaning from his overlap, crossing or passing figures. It should not be compared as though all these statistics count the same kind of action. Opta Analyst’s Kerkez analysis provides the cited figures and explains its tackle measure.
How he compares with other left-backs
The same Opta snapshot offers useful examples, but not a complete league table. Fulham’s Antonee Robinson recorded 223 overlapping runs and led the cited players for open-play crosses with 135. Opta also named Trent Alexander-Arnold, Daniel Muñoz and Destiny Udogie as full-backs with higher tackle rates per 90 than Kerkez. These comparisons cover selected statistics and players, not every Premier League left-back or every part of their games.

| Player or comparison | 2024–25 figure in Opta’s 28-matchday snapshot | What it can indicate |
|---|---|---|
| Milos Kerkez | 237 overlapping runs; 83 open-play crosses; average touch position 57.8 metres from his own goal line; 58.8% of successful passes in the opposition half; true-tackle success 38 of 62 (61.3%). | High attacking involvement and advanced positioning, alongside a separately defined defensive success measure. |
| Antonee Robinson | 223 overlapping runs; 135 open-play crosses. | A close comparison for overlapping activity and a higher open-play crossing total among the players cited. |
| Trent Alexander-Arnold, Daniel Muñoz and Destiny Udogie | Opta cited higher tackle rates per 90; individual rates are not stated in the cited comparison. | Examples of why defensive rates can add context beyond attacking totals. |
Every figure in this table refers to Opta Analyst’s selected 2024–25 comparison through 28 matchdays, not final-season totals. Its overlap and crossing counts are totals, while tackle rate per 90 adjusts for playing time; the measures answer different questions.
A practical method for comparing Premier League left-backs
- Fix the season and cutoff. Compare Premier League figures from the same season and state the date or matchday cutoff. Do not combine Kerkez’s Bournemouth snapshot with Liverpool numbers from another season as if they were contemporaneous.
- Adjust for playing time. Use per-90 rates alongside totals when appearances or minutes differ. Name the denominator and the provider’s metric definition; a rate and a cumulative count are not interchangeable.
- Read attacking actions as evidence of role. Overlaps and open-play crosses show particular kinds of wide involvement. Average touch position and the share of successful passes played in the opposition half help describe how high and how often a player operates in possession.
- Check buildup participation. Look for consistent measures of passing and involvement in possession sequences, if available for every player being compared. These can distinguish a full-back who helps circulate or progress the ball from one whose contribution is concentrated in advanced runs.
- Add defensive work. Compare defensive actions and rates, checking whether a provider’s definition matches across players. A tackle-success percentage, a tackles-per-90 rate and a raw tackle count are not substitutes for one another.
- Account for team instructions. A full-back encouraged to advance has more opportunities to overlap and cross, while also having different responsibilities when possession is lost. Treat the statistics as evidence of deployment as well as individual output.
The Premier League player comparison tool can be used to compare players within the competition. Select the same season and check which measures are available and consistently defined; the tool notes that some statistics are unavailable before 2006–07.

Keep Kerkez’s Liverpool seasons separate
Opta Analyst’s player profile, accessed on 4 October 2026, summarized Kerkez’s 2025–26 Premier League season at Liverpool as 34 appearances, two goals and one assist. The same profile showed five Premier League appearances and 385 minutes in 2026–27 at the time of access. These are different-season snapshots: they should not be merged with the 2024–25 Bournemouth figures or treated as fixed current totals because the profile updates. Check the Opta Analyst player profile for the latest displayed figures.
Kerkez has also described the adjustment behind the change of club. In a Liverpool interview published 29 April 2026, he said the first two or three months were tougher as he adapted to a new playing style, a heavy schedule and the physical demands. In a separate interview published 27 July 2026, he described the role he anticipated in preseason: “You see me higher. I can play higher, going one against one.” That is his description of the role he expected, not a statistical verdict on his full 2026–27 season.
