Choose Midori if its advertised built-in ad blocking, customization, and Astian privacy-service ecosystem better fit your priorities. Which browser is better for Android extensions?
Firefox has a documented extension workflow
Mozilla documents extension discovery and management through Firefox’s Android menu. Its support article says the redesigned menu is included in general-release Firefox for Android version 141 and later. In those versions, use the browser menu to explore and manage extensions. Mozilla’s Firefox for Android menu guide.
Midori support is an advertised feature
Astian claims Android extension support on its feature page, but the cited Google Play listing does not document the installation and management workflow in comparable detail. That is a difference in available documentation, not proof that Midori has no extensions. If a particular extension is essential, verify that it appears and works in the current app before switching.

How do their ad and tracker protections differ?
Firefox offers selectable protection levels
Mozilla says Enhanced Tracking Protection is enabled by default in Firefox for Android. Standard protection blocks social-media trackers, cross-site trackers, and cryptominers. Strict adds tracking content, which can include videos, ads, and other material containing tracking code; Mozilla warns that some websites may not work correctly with it. Custom lets you choose categories. Firefox uses a list supplied by Disconnect to identify known trackers. Mozilla’s Enhanced Tracking Protection guide.

Astian and the Google Play listing advertise ad and tracker blocking in Midori, along with cookie blocking and other privacy-related controls. The cited materials do not provide an independent test of how much advertising or tracking either browser blocks, so the claims do not establish that Midori blocks more than Firefox. Firefox also supports extensions, including ad blockers, according to its Play listing; adding an extension is different from relying on built-in blocking.

Which is better for syncing across devices?
Firefox’s Play listing explicitly describes syncing bookmarks, tabs, and passwords across devices. That requires account-based setup; you can leave sync unused if you do not want it. The cited sources do not establish equivalent Midori syncing, so do not assume that your Midori bookmarks, tabs, or passwords will transfer between devices in the same way.
What do store privacy disclosures tell you?
As observed on Google Play on October 4, 2026, Midori’s data-safety panel said the developer reports no data collected and no data shared with third parties. Firefox’s panel said the app may collect location, personal information, and other data; it also said data is encrypted in transit and deletion can be requested. Google Play notes that developers provide these declarations and that practices may vary by use, region, and age. They are not an independent audit or enough to determine which browser is more private. Midori’s listing and Firefox’s listing.

Astian also describes private search through AstianGO and MidoriVPN as part of the Midori ecosystem. Search and VPN services are separate from a browser’s tracker protection: a VPN does not itself block tracking scripts, and tracker blocking does not provide a VPN connection. Confirm current availability, terms, and any cost in your region before relying on these services.

No independent head-to-head evidence in the cited sources establishes which browser is faster or uses less memory or battery. Midori’s listing mentions improvements in those areas, but that is not a measured comparison against Firefox. If performance is decisive, try both on your own Android device and compare the sites and tasks you use.

Which browser should you choose?
- Choose Firefox if documented Android extension management and account-based syncing of bookmarks, tabs, and passwords matter most, or if you want clearly described tracking-protection levels.
