Windows 11 version 26H2 is reportedly beginning a gradual general-availability rollout, while Xbox is reportedly testing Mythic Achievements and widening its Disc to Digital program. Microsoft’s support documentation explains how eligible PCs move to 26H2; the Xbox feature details come from Neowin’s October 3, 2026, roundup and have not been confirmed here against official Xbox rules.
Windows 11 26H2: what is available and how the update works
Neowin reported during the week of October 3, 2026, that Windows 11 version 26H2 had become generally available, with a gradual Windows Update rollout. That does not mean every eligible PC will see the offer immediately. Neowin also reported the publication of KB5121794 and an official ISO. Microsoft Support’s September 2026 KB5121794 documentation confirms the servicing model and upgrade prerequisites, but does not establish Neowin’s precise general-availability timing or its assessment of how much the release changes.

Why 26H2 can install with an enablement package
Microsoft says Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2 share a common core operating system and identical system files. Features for 26H2 are included in monthly quality updates for 24H2 and 25H2 in a dormant state; an enablement package activates them. On qualifying devices, this provides a move to 26H2 with a single restart rather than a full feature-update installation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck the prerequisites before upgrading
For the enablement-package path, Microsoft lists Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2 as the required starting version. The device must also have the September 22, 2026, KB5124010 preview update (OS build 26100.9546) or a later cumulative update installed. A restart is required.

Xbox Mythic Achievements: what the report says
Neowin reports that Microsoft has begun rolling out Mythic Achievements to Xbox Insiders. Under the feature description in that report, a game earns Mythic status when a player completes every achievement in its base release. DLC achievements and achievements added later do not count. Neowin also says the award can be retroactive, including for completed Xbox 360 games.

Windows setup, security, and printing
- On some ARM PCs, Windows 11 setup may be faster when hardware partners provide a version-specific System Manifest during the out-of-box experience. Neowin says devices meeting a baseline can defer non-critical driver and firmware updates until after setup.
- Neowin reported a Word issue involving PDFs opened from network locations and a Microsoft Threat Intelligence warning about actively exploited Zimbra vulnerability CVE-2026-73570.
- For the Windows 11 26H2 security baseline, Neowin reported a recommendation to prefer the native Windows Ready Print IPP class driver where possible.
Those reports alone do not provide enough detail for a diagnosis or remediation procedure; consult the relevant Microsoft or vendor documentation before changing a system.
Windows Insider builds and developer tools
- The reported Insider builds were Future Platforms 29680.1000, Beta 26220.9587, Experimental 26340.9596, and Experimental 28120.3151 (26H1). Neowin says the two Experimental builds include minor changes such as support for the tilde character in File Explorer’s address bar.

- In the September 2026 Visual Studio Stable Channel update, Neowin reports that Bring Your Own Model support moved into the newer Agent experience, Podman container debugging was added, and Copilot-assisted fixes became available for NuGet vulnerability warnings.
- Neowin also reports that WSL Containers became generally available.
Build and feature specifics should be checked against the corresponding official release notes before being used as instructions.
