Sometimes. Microsoft Teams is included with some Office 365 and Microsoft 365 subscriptions, but not all. The answer depends on the exact plan and SKU, your region, and— for some enterprise plans—whether you are a new customer or already held a Teams-included subscription.
Which Office 365 and Microsoft 365 plans include Teams?
Microsoft’s plan comparisons show Teams included with several business and enterprise plans, but not with Microsoft 365 Apps. Business suites are also offered in versions with and without Teams, so the plan-family name alone may not settle the question.

These comparisons describe listed offers, not every regional SKU. Check Microsoft’s current plan comparison and the exact subscription name in your purchase or admin records before relying on Teams being included.
Why new Enterprise customers may need a separate Teams license
For new Enterprise customers outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, the licensing change took effect on April 1, 2024. A customer seeking both Teams and the value of an E1, E3, or E5 enterprise suite must purchase a no-Teams suite plus a separate Teams Enterprise license.

In the EEA and Switzerland, the change took effect on October 1, 2023. The corresponding options are Office 365 EEA without Teams and Microsoft Teams EEA. Microsoft’s Teams add-on licensing guidance explains the enterprise licensing rules; the Microsoft Product Terms identify the regional options.
This rule is for new enterprise purchases under the affected offers; it does not mean every current customer has to switch. Microsoft says enterprise customers who had a Teams-included subscription before the change can continue to use, renew, upgrade, and otherwise adjust that subscription. New customers should check current availability for their region rather than assume an older Teams-included E1, E3, or E5 offer is still purchasable.

What to check if Teams is missing from your subscription
- Find the precise plan and SKU. Check the subscription or license name in your Microsoft account or organization’s admin records, not only the broad “Office 365” or “Microsoft 365” label.
- Check whether that version includes Teams. Compare the exact offer with Microsoft’s current plan options. In particular, Business suites can be offered both with and without Teams, and Microsoft 365 Apps is listed without Teams.
- For an Enterprise plan, account for region and purchase history. New-customer rules differ between the EEA and Switzerland and other regions; existing subscribers to Teams-included enterprise suites may retain and renew their subscription.
- Confirm whether Teams is separately licensed. New enterprise customers may have a no-Teams E1/E3/E5 suite alongside a standalone Teams license. Ask the organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator or licensing provider to check the assigned licenses if you cannot see Teams.
Is Teams Essentials enough, or do you need a full suite?
Teams Essentials is a standalone, meeting-focused option that Microsoft positions for small and medium-sized businesses. It is not interchangeable with a complete Office 365 or Microsoft 365 suite. Microsoft describes Business Standard as a broader option that includes apps such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with business email-domain capability and Exchange calendar integration.
