If your Microsoft Edge is older than 153.0.4234.32, it falls in the affected range of CERT-FR advisory CERTFR-2026-AVI-1191, published September 16, 2026. The advisory names two flaws, CVE-2026-69486 and CVE-2026-85893. It warns of remote code execution and privilege elevation. Update Edge and confirm the installed version.
What the advisory covers
CERT-FR, the French national cybersecurity agency’s alert service, published “Multiples vulnérabilités dans Microsoft Edge” as CERTFR-2026-AVI-1191 on September 16, 2026. It links to Microsoft Security Response Center bulletins for both CVEs.

| Item | What the advisory states |
|---|---|
| Affected product | Microsoft Edge versions earlier than 153.0.4234.32 |
| Identifiers | CVE-2026-69486, CVE-2026-85893 |
| Reported risks | Remote code execution; privilege elevation |
| Published | September 16, 2026 |
The advisory reports the combined impacts only. It does not say which CVE causes which impact, give severity scores, name the affected components or describe preconditions. The reviewed text also does not say whether either flaw has been exploited in the wild. Treat those details as unestablished until you read Microsoft’s own bulletins for each CVE.
Which Edge version fixes it
Microsoft’s Edge security release notes identify Stable 153.0.4234.32 as a September 10 release that includes Chromium security updates. That is the threshold CERT-FR uses. It is not the newest build: Microsoft’s Stable Channel release notes (updated September 21, 2026) also list Stable 153.0.4234.48 on September 18. Any version at or above the threshold is outside the advisory’s affected range, but the latest Stable build is the better target.

How to check and update Edge
On a personal device
- Open Edge and go to
edge://settings/help, or choose Settings and more (…) > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge. - Edge checks for updates and downloads any it finds. Read the version number shown on that page.
- Select Restart when prompted. The update does not fully apply until the browser relaunches.
- Reopen the About page and confirm the version is 153.0.4234.32 or higher.
On managed devices
Administrators should check the version reported by their deployment tooling against the 153.0.4234.32 threshold and confirm that update policies are not blocking or deferring Edge updates. Verify the result per device rather than assuming a push succeeded.
If no update appears
Microsoft says Stable updates roll out progressively over one or more days, so a device may not be offered the new build immediately. Recheck the About page later. On managed fleets, look at your deployment process first.
