Microsoft announced a Bing search experience for the 2024 U.S. elections on October 30, 2024. It brought presidential and state-election results, voting guidance, news and an interactive results map into one place. Microsoft described it as an election-season feature; its announcement does not establish whether it is still available.
What Bing announced for the 2024 elections
Bing said the experience would bring information about the U.S. presidential race and state elections together, including election results, voting information, news, polling and primary outcomes. A search for How to vote, or use of the relevant module, was intended to direct people to information from local election authorities about voting in their state. Microsoft’s October 30, 2024 announcement describes the feature.

How the election results map was organized
For election day, Microsoft described an interactive map with filters for Senate, House and gubernatorial contests. The company said the map would include other statewide offices and ballot measures, with information available at state or county level.
The map was designed to show leads and whether a race was active or awaiting results. A side pane would provide an overall snapshot, including electoral and popular votes for the presidential contest. Microsoft also said the experience was expanding to mobile.

Where results came from and how updates worked
Microsoft said results data for the experience would be sourced from The Associated Press. The interface was to show when data had last been refreshed and offer a manual refresh option. Microsoft also said the map would remain available after a race was called while final votes continued to be counted.

How this differed from Bing’s other election-information work
In a separate November 2023 announcement, Microsoft described work to help election-administration searches surface reputable information. It named the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), Spanish news agency EFE and Reporters Without Borders, and cited existing collaborations such as NewsGuard and ClaimReview. Microsoft’s announcement concerns trusted election information; it is distinct from the AP results-data attribution for the 2024 Bing experience.
Was this the same as Bing’s broader visual redesign?
No. Microsoft had described a broader Bing and Edge visual update in May 2023, with a streamlined look, rounded corners, organized containers and semi-transparent visual elements. That general design update predates the election modules and should not be mistaken for a new 2024 redesign. Microsoft’s May 4, 2023 post also reported more than 200 million images created with Bing Image Creator and more than 100 million daily active Bing users at that time; those are company-reported 2023 figures, not statistics about the election feature or current usage.

What the announcement establishes—and what it doesn’t
- Established: Microsoft announced a consolidated election-season search experience for the 2024 U.S. elections, including results, voting guidance, news and an interactive map.
- Established: Microsoft attributed the experience’s results data to the Associated Press and described refresh information and controls.
- Not established: The announcement does not say whether the 2024 experience remains available now.
- Not established: Microsoft’s feature description does not independently verify result accuracy, the completeness of coverage or any voter impact.
For someone checking election information, the practical details to verify are who supplies results, whether voting guidance points to local election authorities, which races and locations are covered, and when results were last refreshed.
