“Microphone throat tattoo” usually refers to a proposed electronic device worn on the throat to pick up voice and send it to a mobile device—not a permanent tattoo. The phrase can also mean ordinary tattoo art depicting a microphone, so context matters.
What does “microphone throat tattoo” mean?
In technology coverage, “tattoo” describes an electronic skin device applied to the body. The proposed device is meant to capture voice near the throat and provide auxiliary voice input to a mobile communication device. It is not ink under the skin.

How does the patent describe the device?
The patent describes an electronic skin tattoo containing a microphone, wireless transceiver, power supply, and controller. Its intended role is to provide voice input to a mobile device, with the patent proposing that throat-region pickup could improve the signal-to-noise ratio compared with using the mobile device without it. The description also allows the electronics to be housed in a collar or band worn around the throat.

Does it detect lies?
No reliable lie-detection capability is established by the cited material. The patent mentions an optional galvanic skin-response sensor and speculates that skin resistance might vary when someone is nervous or speaking falsely. That speculative description is not evidence of a functioning or validated lie detector.

Is it the same as a regular throat microphone or a microphone tattoo?
No. A conventional wearable throat microphone headset is a separate type of product that picks up vibrations at the throat; it is not the electronic skin tattoo described in the patent. The patent’s collar-or-band option does not make those devices the same thing.
