Microlink vs ScreenshotOne for Indian Web Developers

Microlink combines screenshots with URL data extraction; ScreenshotOne focuses on rendering. Compare their APIs, quotas, features, and India billing considerations.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Short answer: choose Microlink if screenshots are one part of a broader URL-to-data workflow; choose ScreenshotOne if your main job is rendering websites, HTML, or Markdown into screenshots or PDFs. Neither is automatically the better value: their published quotas count different things, and the reviewed pricing is in USD. If you want a screenshot-focused alternative to try first, consider ScreenshotNeo, which removes common consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture and bills only clean shots.

Microlink vs ScreenshotOne: the practical difference

Both are hosted APIs that can capture web pages, but they are positioned differently. Microlink is a URL-to-data API: it returns metadata by default and can add a screenshot, PDF, Markdown, HTML, or browser-function result to a request. ScreenshotOne is presented as a website-rendering API, with configurable requests for website, HTML, or Markdown inputs and image or PDF output.

That distinction matters if the application needs more than a picture. A page-preview service that also needs a title or other extracted metadata may fit Microlink’s broader response model. A capture pipeline that sends HTML directly, needs rendering controls, or treats screenshots as its primary output may fit ScreenshotOne’s documented request model. These are product-fit distinctions, not claims that one service is faster or more reliable; no workload-specific benchmark is established here.

Feature and integration comparison

Decision point Microlink ScreenshotOne What to check in your application
Product focus URL-to-data API with screenshots and other outputs Hosted website-rendering API Whether capture is one step in data extraction or the main deliverable.
Inputs and requests URL-based API; SDK and CLI are documented GET and POST; website, HTML, and Markdown rendering options are documented Your runtime, request construction, and whether your service needs to submit HTML rather than a URL.
Response and delivery JSON can include screenshot asset metadata and a CDN-hosted image URL; direct-image embedding is also documented Image responses are documented, with rendering options Whether the caller needs JSON, a binary image response, or a URL suitable for embedding.
Capture capabilities Screenshot behavior is configurable; the API also supports other output types The pricing page lists full-page capture, image formats, PDF rendering, caching, S3 upload, webhooks, signed links, and stealth mode; availability varies by tier Confirm that the exact option you need is included in your selected plan.
Integration tools URL-based request, SDK, and CLI GET and POST request formats; access key can be supplied in a header or request parameter/body placement described in its getting-started material Keep credentials server-side; do not expose secrets in browser code.

Published pricing: compare the quota units, not just the prices

The providers’ plan pages reviewed on October 3, 2026 display prices in USD and use different quota labels. These are provider-published figures, not independent measurements, and plan terms can change. A Microlink request is not necessarily equivalent to a ScreenshotOne screenshot credit, especially if the request produces additional outputs.

Provider and plan Published allowance Displayed price Important qualification
Microlink free 25 requests per day Free Provider-published API figure reviewed October 3, 2026; quota is requests, not explicitly screenshot-only credits.
Microlink Pro Approximately 46,000 requests per month $49 per month Provider describes the monthly quantity as approximate; review the live plan terms.
ScreenshotOne free 100 screenshots Free The pricing page lists the quantity; confirm its current period and terms on the live page.
ScreenshotOne Basic 2,000 screenshots per month $17 per month Displayed plan figure reviewed October 3, 2026.
ScreenshotOne Growth 10,000 screenshots per month $79 per month Displayed plan figure reviewed October 3, 2026.
ScreenshotOne Scale 50,000 screenshots per month $259 per month Displayed plan figure reviewed October 3, 2026.

ScreenshotOne’s pricing page also displays request-per-minute limits, extra-request pricing, and features assigned to different tiers. Check those rows for the plan you are considering rather than assuming every listed feature is included at every level. For either service, estimate the number of captures, retries, and other outputs your workflow will request, then compare that estimate with the provider’s definition of a billable unit and its overage rules.

What Indian developers should verify before paying

The reviewed plan pages display USD prices; they do not establish an INR price or settle India-specific payment methods, tax treatment, currency conversion, or invoice requirements. Before adding a plan to an INR budget, confirm those points directly with the provider and check what amount your payment method will actually be charged. Do not infer local billing terms from a USD plan table.

Implementation details that affect the choice

Microlink: suppress metadata work for screenshot-only calls

Microlink returns metadata by default. Its screenshot guide says adding meta: false skips metadata extraction and is usually its biggest speedup when the request only needs a screenshot. The documented flow renders the page in a headless browser, captures the current viewport, stores the image on its CDN, and returns asset metadata. If your application expects an image URL rather than an image body, account for that response shape; Microlink also documents a direct-image embedding mode.

ScreenshotOne: use HTTPS and protect the access key

ScreenshotOne documents both GET and POST requests and recommends HTTPS because plain HTTP does not encrypt credentials or other sensitive request data in transit. Its documentation says legacy HTTP compatibility remains, but recommends migration. The access key can be placed in a header or in request parameters/body as documented; keep it on a server you control. Optional request signing is also documented and requires a signature derived from request parameters and a signing key.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose Microlink when a capture is part of a larger URL-to-data request and the same workflow benefits from metadata or other output formats. For screenshot-only usage, consider whether disabling metadata with meta: false suits the response you need.
  • Choose ScreenshotOne when website rendering is the central task, especially if your inputs include HTML or Markdown or your design depends on its documented rendering and delivery options. Verify the needed feature is in the intended tier.
  • Compare total plan fit using your expected volume and the provider’s own quota definitions, request limits, overage rules, and feature tiers—not the headline monthly price alone.
  • For a screenshot-focused alternative, try ScreenshotNeo first if removing consent banners and other overlays before capture, or avoiding charges for failed/unclean captures, matters to your workflow.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request and returns a screenshot. Its API supports PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output; use the relevant options in the ScreenshotNeo documentation.
