Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux share the same PC requirements in their Steam listings. Both list a 2.2 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB RAM, and a DirectX 10 graphics card as minimums; the recommended tier is a quad-core or 3.0+ GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB RAM, and a DirectX 11 card. Those are listed thresholds—not a promise of smooth play at a particular resolution or frame rate.
Metro Redux PC system requirements
Steam lists identical Windows requirements for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. The specifications below are the store-listed requirements captured on October 7, 2026; they do not specify a target resolution, graphics preset, or guaranteed frame rate. PLAION Support also publishes a Metro 2033 Redux requirements page that repeats the listed processor and graphics thresholds.
What the listed requirements mean for a current Windows PC
The Steam game pages name older Windows releases, so their operating-system rows should not be read as a complete statement of present-day launcher compatibility. Steam says its client supports Windows 10 and later beginning January 1, 2024; check current Steam and game compatibility for your setup rather than treating the legacy OS list as a guarantee. #1 Best Overall
The minimum and recommended rows are thresholds published on the store pages, not modern benchmark results. Meeting them alone cannot establish what frame rate a particular PC will deliver. CPU, graphics card, resolution, and chosen options all matter, and the listings do not promise a specific performance target.
Which graphics settings should you lower for more FPS?
The Metro 2033 PC manual describes the controls below. Menus and option availability should be checked in the particular Redux game you are playing; the manual’s descriptions should not be assumed to establish that both Redux menus are identical. Metro 2033 PC manual.

- Immerse yourself in the Moscow Metro - witness one of the most atmospheric worlds in gaming brought to life with stunning next-gen visuals at 60FPS

- Two unique Play Styles : 'Spartan' and 'Survival' The legendary Ranger Mode returns - dare you play the fearsome Ranger Mode?
- Anti-aliasing: Smooths jagged edges. The manual says higher settings reduce performance, making this a reasonable first option to test if the game misses your own frame-rate target.
- Quality: Changes overall visual quality, including shadows, lighting, and particle effects. Lowering it is a broader visual compromise if a targeted adjustment is not enough.
- Resolution: Sets the screen size. Use your display’s native resolution if performance is acceptable; lowering it can be considered if performance remains poor, at the cost of image sharpness.
- Texture filtering: The manual describes a trade-off: higher filtering improves image quality, while lower filtering improves performance. It does not quantify the FPS effect for modern hardware.
- DirectX options: The manual describes a DirectX choice. Its DirectX 11 options include Advanced Depth of Field, which blurs out-of-focus objects, and tessellation, which increases polygon detail on nearby objects. It does not quantify their cost on current systems.
- Advanced PhysX: The manual documents an on/off option under game options. Historical discussion of the original Metro 2033 does not establish the performance effect of this option in Redux on a modern PC.
A cautious settings-tuning sequence
This is a practical way to isolate trade-offs based on the manual’s descriptions, not a tested preset or a guaranteed result. Change one option at a time so you can tell whether that change helps on your PC.
- Compare your CPU, memory, graphics card/API support, and free storage with the Steam requirement rows.
- Choose the resolution you want to play at, then try the game at its current or default quality.
- If performance misses your target, reduce anti-aliasing and compare the result.
- If that is not enough, test a lower Quality setting or resolution separately, keeping the change that best balances image quality and performance for you.
What is not established about Metro Redux performance
The cited sources do not provide current hardware-by-hardware Redux benchmarks, a universal 60 FPS preset, or results for a particular PC. NVIDIA’s historical graphics guide discusses rendering and MSAA costs in the original Metro 2033; those results should not be presented as Redux measurements or as predictions for modern GPU models.
