The Metaphor: ReFantazio Prologue Demo for Nintendo Switch 2 was reported at 29.8 GB when it appeared in the Japan and Australia eShops on October 12, 2026. Nintendo’s US listing estimates the full Switch 2 game at 62.1 GB, but that is a pre-release estimate—not the demo size or a guaranteed final install size. Save transfer from this particular Switch 2 demo to the Switch 2 full game has not been confirmed in the sources available.
How large is the Switch 2 demo?
RPG Site reported a 29.8 GB download size for the Prologue Demo on October 12, 2026, based on its Japan and Australia eShop rollout. That is a dated report of regional listings, not a guarantee that every region’s listing—or a later version of the download—will show the same figure. Check your own eShop listing before downloading. Does demo progress carry over to the Switch 2 full game?
That specific transfer has not been confirmed by the sources available. SEGA’s general Metaphor: ReFantazio FAQ says progress from its prologue demo can continue in the full version on supported versions, with the same story and character status. However, that FAQ does not confirm that a save from the newly released Switch 2 demo transfers to the Switch 2 full game. SEGA’s support FAQ RPG Site’s Switch 2 demo report
Until ATLUS, SEGA, or Nintendo confirms Switch 2-specific carryover, treat the general demo policy as guidance for supported versions—not a promise about this Switch 2 release.

Is Nintendo Switch Online required to play the demo or transfer progress?
Nintendo’s product listing says a Nintendo Switch Online membership, sold separately, is required for Save Data Cloud backup. That requirement concerns cloud backup; it does not say a membership is needed to play the demo or transfer a local save. The Switch 2 demo’s save-transfer behavior is not confirmed, so the cloud-backup statement should not be read as confirmation of carryover.
