Storage affects how many games, apps, and other files you can keep on the headset at once. Think about the size of your usual installed library and whether you are comfortable uninstalling and reinstalling content. A smaller rotating library can make a lower-capacity model practical when one is available; a larger library or locally stored media gives you a reason to favor 512GB.

The 128GB model is a launch-era configuration. Android Central reports that the 128GB and 512GB versions share core hardware apart from storage, so storage should not be treated as a performance tier. That publication observed about 20GB used by system files on its 128GB headset and a maximum of 481GB shown on a 512GB headset; these are device observations, not guaranteed free-space figures for every software version. The cited sources establish onboard storage but do not establish a microSD expansion option. Do not assume you can add a memory card; make the choice based on the capacity offered with the headset.
What does the Quest 3 do without extra accessories?
Quest 3 can be used wirelessly as a standalone headset. Meta lists a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor, 8GB of onboard memory, Wi-Fi 6E, a resolution of 2064 × 2208 pixels per eye, and a field of view of 110° horizontal and 96° vertical in its current device comparison.
