The key caveat: Meta has confirmed Nova as a style in its Meta Glasses collection, but has not published a Nova-specific specification sheet in its September 2026 announcement. Gen 3’s published specifications therefore should not be assumed to apply to Nova.
What are Nova and Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3?
Nova is a style in Meta’s Meta Glasses collection, announced on September 23, 2026. Meta’s announcement confirms the style but does not specify Nova’s camera, video resolution, battery life, dimensions, weight, price, or prescription range. It is safest to compare Nova as a frame choice whose exact configuration needs checking, not as a separately documented hardware generation. Meta’s lineup announcement

Which should you buy?
Choose Meta Glasses Nova if the frame is your priority
- You prefer Nova’s look and fit to the available Ray-Ban Gen 3 styles.
- You can confirm the price, prescription options, and features for the exact Nova configuration sold in your market.
- You are comfortable deciding without a Nova-specific specification sheet for the camera, battery, or other hardware.
Meta’s earlier announcement described the original Meta Glasses line as starting at $299, with 26 styles at launch. That is a line-level June 2026 figure, not a confirmed Nova price. The September announcement also gave a $249 starting price for a specified Meta Adventurer configuration with a plug-in case; that is not a Nova price either. Meta’s June 2026 Meta Glasses launch announcement and its September 2026 lineup announcement distinguish these figures.
Choose Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 if published capabilities matter most
- You want a published camera and video specification: Meta lists a 12 MP camera and 3K Ultra HD video recording.
- You want a stated battery estimate: Meta says up to nine hours of use on a charge, while Ray-Ban lists up to 50 additional hours from a fully charged case.
- You prefer one of the announced Aviator, Zena, or Wayfarer frame styles and can verify the configuration suits you.
These are manufacturer specifications, not guarantees of the same results for every wearer or use pattern. Ray-Ban’s US page also lists 32 GB storage, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, and IPX4 water resistance. Check the current product page for your country and exact model before relying on a feature or rating.

Confirm the prescription configuration
Both product lines have prescription-relevant options, but that does not establish that every prescription, lens type, or frame is available everywhere. Meta described the original Meta Glasses line as prescription compatible; Ray-Ban says all Gen 3 styles are available with prescription lenses. Check the exact frame, prescription range, lens category, and local availability with the seller or optician. Ray-Ban’s US page describes free in-store fitting and aftercare, but those services and lens options may vary by location. Ray-Ban US feature and support page

Meta announced Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 from $449 USD in September 2026. “From” is a starting price, not a guaranteed price for every style, lens, or market. For Nova, use the price shown for the exact listing and configuration; neither the earlier Meta Glasses line launch price nor the price of Meta Adventurer establishes what Nova costs.

Check phone and app requirements
Ray-Ban’s US feature page says Gen 3 setup requires a compatible smartphone and the Meta AI app, internet access, and a valid Meta account; it lists Android 10+ and iOS 14.4+. These are requirements shown on the US page, and software requirements can change. Confirm current compatibility and setup requirements in your market before buying. The cited Meta announcement does not give Nova-specific setup requirements.
Check stock and regional availability
Availability, frame choices, and lens configurations can differ by country and retailer. Meta’s June 2026 launch announcement listed Meta.com, Best Buy, Amazon, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and selected retailers in several countries for the Meta Glasses line at that time. That launch distribution statement does not guarantee current Nova stock at any one seller. Verify that the exact model and lenses you want are available locally.

Bottom line for the comparison
Nova may be the better personal choice if its frame is the one you want and the live price and prescription configuration fit your needs. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is the more spec-documented choice: its published camera, video, and battery figures give you concrete criteria to weigh. There is no substantiated universal performance winner between Nova and Gen 3 because the cited official sources do not provide Nova’s full specifications or a controlled head-to-head test.
