Meshy vs Tripo vs Hyper3D vs SupaVoxel: One Image, Four STLs, One Mesh Check

One reported test found SupaVoxel fastest and Tripo highest in face count, but Tripo failed the watertight check. Here is what the four-service comparison does—and does not—show.

In one reported comparison using the same source image, SupaVoxel generated an STL fastest, while Tripo produced the most faces but failed the software watertight check. Meshy and Hyper3D (Rodin) passed that check. Those results describe one run—not a service-wide ranking—and a watertight mesh is not proof that a model will slice or print successfully.

What the comparison measured

ClawdBytes published “Benchmarking Meshy, Tripo, Hyper3D, and SupaVoxel for 3D Printing” on September 22, 2026, attributing the benchmark to developer Nadia Pruitt. It says each service received the same source image and produced an STL. A standard check.py script using the Python library trimesh measured face count, watertight status, and generation time.

The article does not publish the script or STL files, and no independent replication is described. Treat the figures as the benchmark’s reported results from one run. The source image, settings, product versions, export path, and credit accounting can all affect the outcome.

Reported results from the one-image run

Service Faces reported Generation time reported Credits reported Watertight check
SupaVoxel 248,116 12 seconds 0.5 Passed
Tripo 1.9 million 58 seconds 55 Failed
Meshy 205,742 61 seconds 20 Passed
Hyper3D (Rodin) 612,904 41 seconds 0.5 Passed

All measurements and credit figures in this table are attributed to the single run reported by ClawdBytes, not independently verified results or current universal prices. Tripo had the highest face count, but also failed the reported watertight check. SupaVoxel was fastest in this run. Hyper3D/Rodin had more reported faces than Meshy, and both passed the check.

  • 【Fits Most FDM Printers】 Designed for most 1.75mm FDM printers with external, top-mounted, or open spool holders. Each spool measures 140mm in diameter and 36mm in width, with a 53mm center hole. For Bambu Lab AMS or AMS lite, search MakerWorld for a compatible 250g spool adapter before use

What a face count and watertight result can—and cannot—tell you

More faces do not automatically mean a better model

Face count describes mesh density, not whether the generated shape matches the image, preserves important details, has clean topology, or is suitable for the intended use. A high count can mean a denser mesh without making it more useful. The benchmark reports no separate visual-quality assessment or geometric accuracy measure, so its counts should not be read as a quality ranking.

Watertight is a software mesh property, not a print result

A watertight result means the mesh passed the software check described in the article. The benchmark does not report slicer validation, print tolerances, physical prints, or whether the files produced usable objects. A passing check is useful evidence about mesh closure, but it cannot establish that a model will slice correctly or print successfully.

Why the credit numbers are not directly comparable

The benchmark’s credit totals are not reconciled with current vendor pricing. Model version, texture choices, add-ons, account plan, and whether usage is billed through a consumer product or an API can change the cost. The vendors’ published details below provide context, but they should not be substituted for the benchmark’s accounting.

Service Officially documented context How to interpret it
Meshy Meshy’s pricing page lists image-to-3D generation at 25 credits for Meshy 7 and 20 credits for Meshy 6. These are version-specific vendor figures, not a reconciliation of the benchmark’s 20-credit result. Meshy also states that commercial use is supported on paid plans, with different licensing terms for free and paid tiers; check the current terms for the plan you use.
Tripo Tripo’s developer pricing page lists image-to-3D at 20 credits without texture and 30 with standard texture, with additional charges for add-ons. It states that 100 credits equal US$1 for API pay-as-you-go. Its H3.1 documentation identifies stable release snapshot v3.1-20260211, supports single-image and multiview input, and describes added costs for detailed geometry and topology options. These are API and model-documentation details; they do not establish the cost of a consumer Studio workflow or explain the benchmark’s 55 credits.
Hyper3D (Rodin) Hyper3D’s pricing page describes a free pay-by-result workflow and a Creator tier priced at US$30 month-to-month or US$24 per month equivalent on annual billing (US$288 billed today). Its image-to-3D documentation lists GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL, USDZ, glTF, 3MF, and DXF exports. The documentation says one image is enough for many objects and that optional extra views can provide guidance. Its statements about watertight output are vendor claims, distinct from the benchmark’s result for one sample.
SupaVoxel SupaVoxel’s documentation lists STL exports and describes subscription tiers, credit rates, speed, and commercial-use claims. Its speed and quality statements are vendor-published claims, not independent results established by this one-image benchmark.

Choose a service by the workflow you need

If you need a fast first result

SupaVoxel had the shortest reported generation time in this run: 12 seconds. That is generation time, not necessarily time to a usable STL. Retries, texture generation, export, conversion, or manual repair could add time, and the benchmark does not measure those steps.

  • Renewable Material: Made from starch derived from renewable plant resources for environmental friendliness

If you need a closed mesh for a print workflow

Meshy, Hyper3D/Rodin, and SupaVoxel passed the reported software check; Tripo did not. Use this as a reason to inspect and validate the actual file, not as a guarantee of printability. Hyper3D’s documentation explicitly lists STL and 3MF exports. For any service, verify that the desired export is available under your current account and plan.

If you need to control the input or file format

Tripo’s H3.1 documentation supports single-image and multiview input, while Hyper3D’s image-to-3D documentation says optional additional views can guide generation and lists several export formats, including STL and 3MF. These are documented capabilities, not proof that every plan or workflow provides identical options. Confirm the current product interface and entitlements before committing to a production pipeline.

If commercial rights matter

Check the license attached to the exact tier and product you will use. Meshy describes different rights for free and paid plans. SupaVoxel’s documentation includes commercial-use claims, but the benchmark does not compare licenses. Do not infer commercial permission from an STL export or from the benchmark’s credit figures.

How to make a fair comparison for your own project

  1. Use the same input and goal. Start with the same image for each service, and decide whether you want a digital asset, a printable object, or both. If multiview input is allowed, test it as a separate condition rather than mixing it with single-image results.
  2. Record the exact settings. Note each product and model version, texture and geometry options, export format, plan or API route, and the date. This makes differences in cost or output easier to explain.
  3. Track the full path to a usable file. Record generation time and credits separately from retries, add-ons, conversion, export, inspection, and manual repair. The cheapest or fastest initial generation may not be the least costly way to obtain a usable result.
  4. Inspect more than face count. Check whether the shape matches the reference and whether the mesh has the features your use case requires. A raw face count alone cannot answer either question.
  5. Validate against the actual destination. For printing, check the exported file in your slicer and assess the resulting print separately. A trimesh watertight check is one software check, not a slicer test or a physical-print trial.
  6. Compare rights and recurring costs. Confirm current plan entitlements and licensing terms for your intended use, and compare like-for-like settings and billing routes. API credits, consumer subscriptions, and one-time or pay-by-result workflows are not interchangeable price units.

What this comparison establishes

The ClawdBytes results offer a compact example of why one metric cannot pick a winner: Tripo led on reported face count but failed the watertight check, while the fastest reported generator was SupaVoxel. Meshy and Hyper3D/Rodin also passed that check. The comparison does not establish which service makes the best model overall or which will produce the best physical print. For that decision, compare matched inputs and settings, then judge the complete time, cost, file quality, and rights needed for your own use.
