MEGA says available quota also varies with network utilization, ISP, country, and time of day. When does MEGA transfer quota reset?
Quota becomes available as recent usage falls outside the rolling usage period and capacity permits. Because both the usage window and network conditions matter, use any countdown MEGA displays as guidance for your situation rather than a universal reset schedule.

Why am I over quota when I haven’t downloaded anything?
For free access, MEGA measures transfer quota by IP address, not by individual account. MEGA support stated this in a response reproduced by Trustpilot on August 24, 2026. MEGA support response reproduced on Trustpilot.
That means activity from other people using the same public IP can affect what is available to you. Shared networks, VPN exit addresses, and dynamic IP assignments can also lead to a quota warning even if you did not personally download enough to expect one.

Does streaming count toward MEGA transfer quota?
Yes. MEGA defines transfer quota as the total volume of data downloaded from its service, and says streaming consumes it too. Watching a file can therefore use quota even when you have not saved that file as a separate download. MEGA support response reproduced on Trustpilot.

- Wait if the transfer can wait: Free quota may become available as recent usage ages out and network capacity changes.
- Consider Pro only if you need more capacity: MEGA support identifies upgrading to Pro as an option for additional transfer quota. Its response distinguishes Pro quota as account-based, unlike the free IP-based limit.
