1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor a single devotional program produced on one computer, start with OBS and connect it directly to YouTube Live. OBS handles scenes, audio mixing and encoding; MediaMTX is a live media server for routing, protocol conversion, recording, playback and forwarding. Add MediaMTX when you need those server functions—not as a substitute for OBS’s production role. You can also use both: OBS publishes to MediaMTX, which forwards the stream to YouTube.
What OBS and MediaMTX each do
OBS produces the program
OBS Studio is the production and encoding end of this setup: it composes the video and audio you want viewers to receive and sends the resulting stream to a destination. For one workstation and one YouTube program, a direct OBS-to-YouTube connection has fewer components to configure. YouTube’s encoder setup explains how to enter its server URL and stream key in an encoder: YouTube encoder setup.

MediaMTX handles streams as a server
MediaMTX is a live media server and proxy. Its documented capabilities include publishing and reading streams over multiple protocols, protocol conversion, recording, playback, authentication, forwarding, a control API and Prometheus-compatible metrics. It runs on Linux, Windows and macOS as a single executable. Those capabilities can help when a workflow needs a relay, server-side recording or stream routing; they do not replace OBS’s scene-composition role. See the MediaMTX introduction.
Which setup fits your channel?
| Need | OBS direct to YouTube | OBS through MediaMTX |
|---|---|---|
| One composed program from one workstation | Usually the simpler fit | Adds a relay that may not be needed |
| Protocol routing or conversion | Not the main reason to choose OBS | MediaMTX documents these capabilities |
| Forwarding a received feed to YouTube | Direct encoder connection is available | MediaMTX documents RTMP/RTMPS forwarding |
| Server-side recording and playback | Assess OBS’s own recording needs | MediaMTX documents recording and playback |
| Multiple sources or distribution endpoints | OBS handles program production; destinations shape the architecture | Useful when a media server must route or serve streams |
| Day-to-day operations | Fewer components to configure | Requires server configuration, credentials, monitoring and recovery planning |
These are architectural recommendations based on the tools’ documented roles, not results from comparative performance or reliability testing. For most single-workstation devotional loops, direct OBS is the sensible starting point. Use both if MediaMTX solves a specific routing, forwarding or recording need.

How to connect OBS through MediaMTX
In the combined workflow, OBS sends its composed program to MediaMTX, and MediaMTX forwards the received feed to YouTube. MediaMTX documents publishing from OBS over RTMP and also describes publishing from OBS by WHIP. Its forwarding feature supports sending a stream to YouTube over RTMP or RTMPS.
- Configure MediaMTX as the receiving server. Choose and configure the publishing protocol and stream path you intend to use. Follow the MediaMTX OBS instructions for the RTMP URL and path, or its documented WHIP method.
- Publish from OBS. Set OBS to publish to the MediaMTX address and stream path you configured. Keep server addresses and credentials private.
- Configure forwarding to YouTube. Set MediaMTX to forward the received stream to the YouTube Live Control Room server URL using RTMP or RTMPS. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the RTMP connection in transit. Consult MediaMTX forwarding and YouTube’s encoder settings.
- Include both audio and video. YouTube requires both tracks for the forwarding workflow documented by MediaMTX. Confirm they are present in the Live Control Room preview before starting the public stream.
- Test the full route before scheduling it. Check the preview, sound and picture, then test what happens if the encoder or relay connection drops. YouTube recommends testing the stream and encoder failover and monitoring audio and video quality: YouTube live streaming tips.
Choose YouTube’s ingest settings for the actual connection
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265 and AV1 options. Its bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution and frame rate; there is no single setting that fits every connection. Check the current YouTube encoder settings, then test sustained upload capacity from the actual streaming location. Choose a resolution, frame rate and bitrate the connection can maintain instead of selecting the highest listed value by default.

- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. - [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
RTMPS is the recommended starting route for a typical stream. YouTube also supports HLS ingestion for certain codec or HDR workflows, but HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video in segments. Use HLS when a specific requirement calls for it, rather than adding that complexity without a reason. See YouTube HLS setup.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A broadcast that continues beyond 12 hours should not be assumed to have one complete automatic replay. Decide whether your channel should run planned shorter sessions or keep a separate recording workflow. MediaMTX can record streams to disk, but the archive design depends on the channel’s goals and available storage. YouTube also recommends checking that local archive files are intact and growing; see its live streaming tips and encoder setup guidance.

Prepare the stream key, rights and recovery plan
Protect the stream key
YouTube’s stream key tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it. Treat it as a credential: do not put it in public configuration examples or expose it in screenshots. If it is exposed, rotate it in YouTube’s Live Control Room and update the encoder or relay that uses it. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover the server URL and key.
Use content you have the right to stream
Before running devotional music, recordings or video continuously, confirm that you have permission for the material and the intended use. The technical setup does not grant music, performance or video rights. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance is a useful operational reference, but rights depend on the specific material and permissions; do not treat a long-running stream as exempt from copyright rules.

Test recovery and keep monitoring
A 24/7 schedule needs a plan for interruptions, not just a successful first start. Test encoder failover, inspect the YouTube preview and monitor audio and video while live. If MediaMTX is in the route, include the relay and its credentials in the recovery plan. YouTube advises testing before going live and continuously monitoring the stream in its live streaming tips.
What to check before committing to an India-based setup
The documented workflow does not establish your local upload speed, power reliability, data cost or whether a particular India-region hosting service is available to you. These depend on your location and providers. Test sustained upload capacity and failover from the actual installation before committing to an always-on schedule; do not assume a particular ISP, cloud region or backup device is required.
