Mech Arena combines team and solo PvP battles with a PvE challenge. To make sense of early progression, keep its two tracks separate: the Progress Path rewards account XP and unlocks features, while the Gear Hub organizes access to Mechs and Weapons by tier. Before upgrading, check what an item does and what the in-game cost is; the available official information does not establish one best beginner build or upgrade order.
Which game modes can beginners play?
Plarium describes Mech Arena as a fast-paced PvP mech shooter. Its game page lists these modes, while the official support index also covers tournaments and custom matches. The high-level distinction is whether you fight as part of a team, compete alone, or take on a PvE challenge.

Progress Path: account XP and feature unlocks
According to Mech Arena Support’s Progress Path article, updated July 7, 2026, battles can award up to 500 XP per day. Regular Daily and Weekly Objectives can add up to another 500 XP per day; event objectives are also listed as an XP source. The article gives Pilot Access at 1,000 XP and Squad Presets at 10,000 XP as milestone examples.
These limits and thresholds describe the support article’s published system and may change. Check the Progress Path in your game for the current values.

Gear Hub: equipment access and tier unlocks
The Gear Hub—called the Market in one support article—organizes Mechs and Weapons across eight sequential tiers. You earn Tier Stars by acquiring a Mech or Weapon or ranking one up. Stars from the preceding tier count toward unlocking the next tier. In the official example, acquiring an item grants stars corresponding to its rank, and each rank-up adds one star. See the Market support article, updated February 6, 2025, and the official Gear Hub support topics.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

An item obtained from an offer or event can be usable in battle even while its tier remains locked. Owning that item does not, by itself, unlock the tier. This distinction matters if you acquire equipment ahead of your normal tier progression.

What should you know before upgrading?
Mechs have different abilities and play styles, and Weapons are configurable equipment. The game also lists Mods, Pilots, and cybernetic Implants as customization systems. These systems give you choices, but official product and support information does not establish a universal beginner loadout, the best item for every player, or a definitive upgrade sequence.
- Read the in-game description of the Mech, Weapon, Mod, Pilot, or Implant you already own so you understand its stated effect.
- Before spending a scarce resource, check the item’s current cost and effect in the client.
- Choose equipment based on the role and play style you want to try, rather than assuming that a higher tier or a particular item is automatically the right upgrade.
- Recheck costs and descriptions before later investments; the available official material does not provide current cost comparisons or balance rankings.
Those are cautious ways to evaluate your options, not a tested build recommendation. For current item details, use the game client and the official support topics for Mechs, Weapons, Mods, Pilots, and Implants.
