The published conference dates were September 10–11, 2026, at Belle Salle Shibuya Garden. Because those dates have passed, use the official event page for any post-event materials or future-edition announcements.
The rebrand matters: this was not positioned as an MCP-only coding meetup. Its agenda covered MCP alongside agent protocols, infrastructure, orchestration, security, governance, observability, evaluation and enterprise deployment.
What happened to MCP Dev Summit Tokyo?
Linux Foundation and Agentic AI Foundation announcements identify “MCP Dev Summit Tokyo” as the legacy/search name for AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan 2026. The current branding broadens the subject from Model Context Protocol alone to the wider agentic-AI stack. See the official event page and the rebrand announcement.
Older social posts, CFP listings and PDFs may still use the former name. They refer to the same Tokyo/Japan edition, not a separate cancelled summit.

#1 Best Overall
Dates and venue
- Conference dates: September 10–11, 2026
- Venue: Belle Salle Shibuya Garden
- Address: B1F/1F, Sumitomo Fudosan Shibuya Garden Tower, 16–17 Nanpeidaicho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0036, Japan
- Published schedule time zone: Japan Standard Time (JST)
The sponsor guide identifies Hall A + B as the showcase area. It also warns that rooms and session times can change. Some Linux Foundation calendar views showed September 9–11, but the attendee-facing event and registration pages specified September 10–11 for the conference itself.
What the conference covered
MCP and interoperability
Sessions were framed around MCP, agent protocols, open standards and interoperability between tools, clients, servers and agent applications.
Architecture and operations
The broader program addressed agent architectures, infrastructure, orchestration and lifecycle management—topics relevant to teams moving from prototypes to maintained systems.
Rank #2
Security and governance
Security, identity, authentication and governance were explicit themes, along with the controls needed when agents access enterprise data and tools.
Observability, evaluation and production use
The official positioning also included observability, evaluation, production deployment and enterprise adoption patterns. That makes the event broader than an SDK tutorial conference.
Speakers and schedule
At the time of the published event information, the official page listed Yoshiyuki Tabata, Chief OSS Consultant at Hitachi OSPO, and David Soria Parra, Member of Technical Staff, among its featured speakers. The page should be treated as the authority for the final roster.
Rank #3
The schedule directory was live with times in JST, but rooms and sessions were subject to change. The speaker guide listed September 9, 2026 as the slide-submission deadline.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who was the event for?
- Developers and maintainers building MCP servers, clients and agent applications
- Enterprise engineers and architects deploying agent systems
- Platform, infrastructure, orchestration, security and observability teams
- Researchers and academics studying agent systems
- Foundation leaders, open-source contributors and developer-relations teams
Who was less likely to benefit?
- Beginners seeking a general introduction to generative AI
- Nontechnical marketers looking for a consumer-AI trade show
- Attendees wanting only narrow MCP SDK tutorials
- Organizations without an active MCP or agentic-AI project
Was it worth attending?
The strongest case was for teams already implementing MCP or agent systems and needing practical discussion of interoperability, authentication, governance, operations or enterprise rollout. Japan- and Asia-Pacific-based professionals also had a local networking advantage.
The trade-off was scope. The rebrand made the program more useful to platform and enterprise teams, but less focused for someone seeking an MCP-only deep dive. Travel costs and the late ¥125,000 ticket also reduced the value for casual learners.
How it fit the 2026 global program
AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan was one regional event in the Agentic AI Foundation and Linux Foundation program. It was separate from the North America and Europe flagship events, and from regional events in Shanghai and Seoul. Co-location details advertised for those cities should not be applied to Tokyo; the Tokyo pages reviewed did not describe a co-located major conference.
What was confirmed—and what could change?
- Confirmed in the published material: the AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan name, the September 10–11 dates, Belle Salle Shibuya Garden, the listed themes and the registration windows.
- Variable: speaker rosters, room assignments, session times and post-event content.
- Not settled: attendance forecasts. Different sponsorship prospectuses cited 1,500–2,000 and 3,500–5,000 expected attendees, so neither figure should be treated as a definitive turnout.
- Not established by these event pages: visa requirements, airfare, hotel costs, transit advice or a guaranteed hands-on lab program.

The Bottom Line
MCP Dev Summit Tokyo was the former label for AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan 2026. The Tokyo edition used a broader agentic-AI agenda, with MCP at its core, and was scheduled for September 10–11, 2026 at Belle Salle Shibuya Garden.
