Maya Mobile’s global eSIM is best suited to travelers visiting more than one country who want to keep a single eSIM installed for future trips. As of 9 October 2026, its prepaid global passes cost $9.99 for 3 days, $19.99 for 7 days, $27.99 for 14 days, or $49.99 for 30 days. The trade-offs are fixed durations, data-only service, reliance on local roaming partners, and conflicting descriptions of the high-speed data allowance. This assessment is based on published materials, not a purchase or hands-on test.
What Maya Mobile eSIM includes
Maya’s global product is a prepaid, data-only eSIM advertised for 165+ countries. It does not include a local phone number, voice minutes, or SMS. If your phone and carrier allow it, you can keep your regular SIM active for calls and texts while using Maya for mobile data. Confirm any roaming charges or dual-SIM settings with your carrier.

Maya says one installed eSIM can remain on your phone after a plan expires and be enabled again after you buy another plan. That could make repeat trips simpler than installing a new profile each time; this is Maya’s stated policy, not a handset test.

The table names partner networks and connection types by destination, so check those details for every country on your itinerary rather than relying on the total country count alone. Maya’s current terms and Global eSIM page list four prepaid durations. Maya says a plan day is 24 hours from when the plan starts. Prices can change, so confirm the total at checkout.

The blocks may not match your trip: a five-day stay requires the seven-day pass, while a ten-day stay requires the 14-day pass. Compare the plan total with your itinerary, not just a per-day calculation. For a single-country trip, also compare the available local options and the specific network partner Maya lists for that destination.

Auto Top-Up is optional and off by default under Maya’s terms. If enabled, it authorizes another purchase when the plan expires; Maya says it can be disabled at any time. Review the setting before relying on a one-off purchase.
Is Maya Mobile really unlimited?
Do not read “unlimited” as unlimited high-speed data. Maya’s current terms say each plan has a daily high-speed quota and that data continues at standard speeds after that quota, with the resulting speed dependent on local network conditions. The Global storefront, however, says there are no caps or throttling. TechRadar’s 8 October 2026 review reports that Maya’s Help Center describes speed reduction after more than 3 GB in a day, with possible further reduction after continued very high use.

Those descriptions do not establish a single, consistent current threshold or the speed you should expect after it. The safest interpretation is that the terms promise data will not be cut off entirely, but high-speed usage is subject to a daily allowance; the exact allowance and post-allowance speeds remain unclear. TechRadar’s account is a report about Maya’s published guidance, not a performance test. Check the current plan and Help Center wording before purchase.
Will Maya work in your destination and on your phone?
Maya requires a phone that is both unlocked and eSIM-compatible. It does not guarantee compatibility with every model or software version. Check Maya’s current installation instructions and compatibility information before buying.

Then look up each destination in Maya’s coverage table, paying attention to the named local partner and connection type. A country appearing on the list does not guarantee coverage at every location or a particular speed. Maya’s terms explicitly make service availability dependent on factors including local networks and third-party agreements.
Can you use Maya Mobile as a hotspot?
Maya’s support article says Wi-Fi hotspot or internet sharing is available on its iOS and Android plans, but local operators may restrict it in some situations. If hotspot is unavailable after installation, Maya suggests restarting the phone. The feature is supported in principle, not guaranteed on every local network. - Check the device: Confirm that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. Use Maya’s installation instructions for current compatibility and setup guidance.
- Check destinations: Review Maya’s live coverage table for every country and its listed partner networks before checkout.
- Choose the duration: Match the 3-, 7-, 14-, or 30-day pass to the time you need data. Confirm the price shown at checkout.
- Review payment settings: Decide whether to leave Auto Top-Up off; enabling it authorizes another plan purchase at expiry.
- Install as directed: Follow the instructions for your device. The published information cited here does not establish setup results on every handset.
Refunds and what to do if service fails
Maya’s current written terms describe these refund conditions; they are not a guarantee of how a particular claim will be decided:
- Unused plan: A full refund, less possible payment-processing fees, may be requested within 30 days of purchase.
- Activated but completely unusable because of Maya’s error: The terms describe a full refund if Maya cannot fix the problem within 10 days of the refund request.
- Infrastructure problem reducing the value of an activated plan: The terms describe a proportional partial refund. The request must be made within 30 days of the issue, and you must cooperate with troubleshooting.
- Other circumstances: The terms generally exclude cases such as trip cancellation after activation and plans where data has been used. Card refunds can take up to 30 business days.
If installation or service fails, consult Maya’s current installation guidance and contact support promptly, keeping relevant purchase and troubleshooting details. The terms link eligibility to the circumstances and, for some claims, troubleshooting and deadlines. If your purchase or service issue falls under older terms, check the policy shown at checkout or ask support which terms apply.
Who should consider Maya Mobile?
Maya is a reasonable option to compare if you travel across several covered countries, prefer one reusable eSIM profile, and are comfortable with data-only service and the uncertainty around high-speed limits. Its four duration blocks are straightforward, but can mean paying for days you do not need.
