A transaction recap published the next day also lists the release with an injury settlement and records the injured-list placement on September 30. The sources therefore differ on the placement date; neither establishes an undisputed date.
The injury itself was described as undisclosed. The reports provide no diagnosis or recovery forecast.

For Jones specifically, CBS Sports says the settlement leaves him with an opportunity to pass a physical and sign elsewhere. That is the reported next step—not confirmation that another team has signed him. Who is Marvin Jones Jr.?
This is linebacker Marvin Jones Jr., not the veteran NFL wide receiver Marvin Jones. Heavy describes the linebacker as an undrafted rookie in 2026 who played college football at Georgia, Florida State, and Oklahoma.
