How Marvel Rivals ranked placements work
- Play your first 10 ranked matches of the season. These are placement matches, according to the official Season 5 patch notes.
- During placements, the game shows a predicted rank for matchmaking. Treat it as provisional: your actual rank is assigned only after all 10 matches are complete.
- Finish the placement set if you want to qualify for season ranked rewards. The Season 5 notes say players who do not complete placements do not receive those rewards.
The placement and reward conditions above are documented in Season 5, published November 12, 2025. They explain the system’s recorded rules, but the official Season 10 notes reviewed do not restate every eligibility condition. For Season 10, use the in-game reward preview to confirm current requirements.

How you rank up after placements
Competitive points are used in ranked progression, but the official material reviewed does not publish a complete Season 10 formula for ordinary match wins and losses. It would be misleading to promise a fixed number of points per win or loss: consult the in-game ranked display for your current point changes.

Placement point adjustment: an older, dated rule
The official Season 7 notes, published March 18, 2026, documented a placement adjustment between -100 and +100 Competitive points after the 10 placement matches, based on personal results and tier. That is a Season 7 rule; the Season 10 notes do not confirm that the same adjustment still applies. See the Season 7 patch notes.

Point restoration for confirmed malicious teammate behavior
In a March 9, 2026 announcement, the publisher said: “If your match loss and point deduction were caused by a teammate’s confirmed malicious behavior, the system will automatically restore lost points.” The announcement says players receive an in-game mail notification when compensation is issued. This describes a specific confirmed-behavior case, not a general refund for losses. Read the anti-throwing announcement.
What are the ranks in Marvel Rivals?
A secondary reference lists the ladder as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All. The official Season 10 source reviewed does not enumerate the full ladder, so treat that list as a reference rather than independently confirmed current-season information. Season 10 ranked rewards
The official Season 10 patch notes, published September 9, 2026, name Gorr the God Butcher – Gods’ Graveyard as the Gold-tier costume reward. Season 10 began September 11, 2026.
The Season 5 notes documented a more detailed eligibility model: one Gold costume per half-season, with 10 ranked matches completed in that half and a final rank of Gold or higher when the half-season ended. They also tied season-end rewards to completed placements and the required final rank. Those are historical Season 5 conditions, not confirmation that the same thresholds or timing apply to Season 10. Check the current in-game reward preview for the live eligibility rules.

Ranked rewards are different from tournament rewards
Season 10 also describes Units and exclusive loot for factions in Marvel Rivals Championship Open Qualifiers that complete at least six matches. This is a faction tournament reward path, separate from the Gold-tier costume for standard ranked play; see the Season 10 patch notes.
