To manage an existing Managed Paperclip instance, open the Paperclip card in the dashboard’s AI agents area and select Manage. From there, you can connect an AI provider, edit environment variables, restore or download backups, and inspect logs. The steps below describe the managed dashboard controls documented by the provider, not a separately self-hosted Paperclip installation.
Find your instance and open its dashboard

Sign in to your account dashboard and select AI agents in the sidebar, then choose Paperclip. The instructions assume you already have an active Managed Paperclip instance.

Find the card for your instance. It shows the instance name, online status, and the plan’s next renewal date. Select Manage to open the management dashboard.

If you need to sign in to the app or open its terminal, first copy the instance password from the card’s Options menu (⋮) or from App details. The card also provides Open app and Open Terminal; both require login.

The card’s Options menu includes controls to update Paperclip to the latest version, copy the password, reboot, or delete the application. Use deletion carefully: it removes the application rather than simply closing the dashboard.
What the Dashboard page shows
The Dashboard section is the overview for the instance. The management guide lists app status, access and restart/delete controls, the installed Paperclip version, plan name and expiration, and disk usage. It also links to AI provider and Logs. A 50 GB disk upgrade option is documented on this page; the guide does not establish its price or other plan terms. You can renew the plan before it expires.

Connect or change the AI provider
Open AI provider and select the provider tab you want to configure: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Cursor. Enter the provider’s API key to connect it. The setup guide lists an active account with AI Automation apps access and a provider API key—or an active ChatGPT subscription—as prerequisites for model connection.
The management guide also documents Use your ChatGPT subscription with a Connect control as an alternative to entering an API key. These are connection routes, not evidence that model access or usage is included in the hosting plan. The guides do not compare provider costs, model quality, or quotas, so choose based on the account and model access you intend to use.

Edit environment variables without breaking the instance
Choose Environment to find and manage configuration variables. Search for a variable or select Show all values. Use the pencil icon to edit, the trash icon to delete, or Add environment variable to create one. Examples listed in the management guide include PAPERCLIP_ADMIN_EMAIL, PAPERCLIP_ADMIN_NAME, PAPERCLIP_PUBLIC_URL, PAPERCLIP_AGENT_JWT_SECRET, PAPERCLIP_TOOL_ACTION_SIGNING_SECRET, and PAPERCLIP_ADMIN_PASSWORD.
The guide warns: “Editing or removing environment variables that Paperclip relies on to run, such as PAPERCLIP_AGENT_JWT_SECRET or PAPERCLIP_TOOL_ACTION_SIGNING_SECRET, can affect your instance’s functionality.” Before changing or deleting a variable, confirm what depends on it; avoid altering a secret merely because it is unfamiliar.

Restore or download a backup

Open Backups in the management dashboard.

Select the snapshot by its date and time.

Choose Restore application to restore it, or Download backup to save a copy. Use restore history to review earlier restore actions.

The management guide says backups appear once daily and are retained for seven days. If no backup has been created, the list will not have one available. These are the cadence and retention period stated in the guide, not a guarantee about recovery time or service availability.

However, to play current-gen games (PS5 / Xbox Series X|S), you must copy them to the console's internal SSD first. The external drive is great for keeping your library on hand, but it can't run the new games.
Use Logs to investigate issues
Open Logs to review instance entries. Filter by text to narrow the view, or enable Errors & warnings only to focus on those entries. Select refresh to retrieve current entries, and use the copy or download controls to preserve the visible logs for your own troubleshooting.
Analyze logs asks AI to review the logs and suggest fixes for issues or performance improvements. Treat its output as suggestions to evaluate, not a guaranteed diagnosis or repair.
Managed controls versus self-hosting
These instructions cover the managed application dashboard: its documented controls include status and lifecycle actions, provider configuration, environment variables, backups, and logs. They should not be assumed to describe how to administer Paperclip installed on a VPS or another server you manage yourself. The overview describes its AI Automation Applications as managed, including installation, updates, backups, and security; the exact controls available for your instance are those shown in its dashboard.
