You can give a Samsung Galaxy a more distinctive, coordinated look using its built-in wallpaper, color, widget, and lock-screen controls. Start with a wallpaper that keeps icons and text readable, match the interface colors to it, then adjust the home and lock screens. Themes, Good Lock, and a model-compatible case offer bigger changes when you want them.
Choose a wallpaper that works with the screen
A personal photo, graphic, or video can set the look for your home or lock screen. To use an image from your phone, open Settings > Wallpaper and style, choose the wallpaper option, then select media from Gallery and follow the preview prompts. Labels and available choices can vary by Galaxy model and software version. Samsung also documents AI-generated wallpapers and weather effects for eligible devices; those options are not available on every Galaxy phone. Before applying a design, preview it with the clock, notifications, and app icons in place. Keep the main subject away from those areas so the image does not compete with the information you need to read.

If you would rather not settle on one image, Samsung’s Dynamic Lock Screen lets you download image packs that rotate as the display wakes. Samsung says Fresh packs update automatically every two weeks. Depending on your settings, downloading images may use mobile data. See Samsung’s Dynamic Lock Screen instructions for setup details.

Coordinate the interface colors
A wallpaper color palette can make compatible interface elements feel more unified without changing every icon. On supported Galaxy software, go to Settings > Wallpaper and style > Color palette, enable the palette, and choose a suitable option. The exact labels and palette behavior vary by device and software version. Samsung Australia provides regional instructions for enabling the color palette.
Make the home screen useful, not crowded
Widgets add glanceable information while creating visual structure. Calendar, weather, notes, and music controls are useful starting points; choose only the ones you will actually check.

- Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- Choose a widget, select its available size or style, then tap Add.
- Drag it into position. If the widget supports resizing, touch and hold it and adjust its handles.
Samsung’s widget instructions describe the general process; the available widgets and labels depend on the device and installed apps. Leave enough clear space for icons and wallpaper details rather than filling every gap.

On supported devices, touch and hold the lock screen to open its editor. From there, you can change the wallpaper and clock style, add available widgets, and adjust shortcuts. Preview the result with notifications visible, and use Samsung’s notification display controls if you do not want message details shown on the locked screen. Lock-screen widgets are not identical across Galaxy models. Samsung UK says some functionality has moved into Brief widgets, and which supporting apps appear can change. Check what your phone offers rather than assuming a feature shown for another model or software version will be available. Samsung UK explains its current widget terminology.

Apply a Galaxy Theme selectively
Galaxy Themes can change more than the wallpaper, but a theme may affect only some interface elements. Browse Galaxy Themes, inspect the description, and preview the lock screen and app icons together before applying a design. If a theme makes text or icons harder to distinguish, choose another or revert the elements you do not want. Samsung’s overview describes Galaxy Themes and its possible changes; its instructions are for Australian products, and settings may vary in other markets.

Use Good Lock only if the built-in editor is not enough
For additional lock-screen or Always-On Display widget options, Samsung UK describes using Good Lock with its LockStar module. This is an optional, more advanced route—not a universal Galaxy setting. Confirm that Good Lock and the relevant module are available for your model, software version, and region before planning around them. Samsung’s Good Lock guide covers the approach.
Change the phone’s exterior with a compatible case
A case changes what people see when the screen is off, and it can also add protection. Samsung lists colorful silicone cases, clear cases that show the phone’s original color, and customizable Flipsuit cases for selected models. Its S25 Flipsuit case can match the lock-screen look to an inserted card. These accessories are model- and region-specific, so check the exact phone model, case variant, and local availability before buying.
