The right magnetic rechargeable work light depends on what you need to illuminate: a compact light with an aimable head suits close-up repairs, while a multi-panel light spreads illumination across a broader work area. Compare the brightness mode you will actually use, its stated runtime, how the light mounts and aims, and whether it charges over USB-C or uses a tool-battery platform. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not results from a shared independent test.
Choose the form factor for the work area
A magnetic work light is useful only if it can illuminate the task from a practical position. A compact, adjustable-head light can fit beside a component or inside a confined workspace. A multi-panel model can throw light in several directions to cover a larger area. A battery-platform light is worth considering when you already own compatible batteries and want to use them for service or repair work.

Compact, close-up lighting: Milwaukee 2013R
Milwaukee describes the 2013R as a low-profile magnetic task light with an adjustable head and alternative mounting capability. Its maker lists three white-light settings: 500 lumens on high, 250 on medium, and 100 on low, with corresponding runtimes of four, eight, and 12 hours. It charges by USB-C and has a stated two-year warranty. Milwaukee also lists an IP54 rating and a six-foot drop rating. These are the manufacturer’s specifications; they do not establish how the light performs in a common independent test. Milwaukee 2013R product details.

Multi-panel area lighting: NEBO OMNI 2K and OMNI 3K
The OMNI lights use panels and rotating magnetic handles to direct light around a work area. NEBO’s OMNI 2K page lists a 4,000 mAh, 3.7 V battery, USB-C charging, and a recharge time of two to eight hours depending on USB output. Its listed modes pair 2,000 lumens with 1.3 hours, 1,100 lumens with two hours, 250 lumens with 5.5 hours, and 150 lumens with nine hours. Red-light modes are listed at 20 lumens for 11 or 20 hours. NEBO OMNI 2K specifications.
The OMNI 3K has rotating panels and a magnetic handle that can also serve as a kickstand. NEBO lists a 4,000 mAh battery and these white-light mode/runtime pairs: 3,000 lumens for one hour, 1,500 lumens for two hours, 300 lumens for four hours, and 150 lumens for eight hours. Red modes are listed at seven lumens for 15 or 20 hours. The product page specifies IPX4 and describes the light as water- and impact-resistant. NEBO OMNI 3K specifications.

Tool-battery lighting: Milwaukee M12 ROVER 2367-20
The M12 ROVER is a different charging proposition: it uses Milwaukee’s M12 battery system rather than a built-in USB-rechargeable battery. Milwaukee lists 700 lumens and up to 24 hours of runtime with the specified M12 XC4.0Ah battery. It also has a pivoting head, a magnet, USB output, an IP54 rating, and a nine-foot drop rating. The maximum-runtime figure is tied to that battery pack; it should not be treated as a runtime guarantee for other M12 packs or conditions. Milwaukee M12 ROVER product details.

IP ratings and drop claims are model-specific maker statements, not a guarantee that different products underwent equivalent tests. In particular, an IPX4 rating does not mean a light is submersible. Consult the product manual for operating, charging, care, and battery warnings.
Match brightness to the runtime you need
Maximum lumens describe a top setting, not how long the light will last at that output. The OMNI 2K’s listed top mode is 2,000 lumens for 1.3 hours, while its 250-lumen mode is listed for 5.5 hours. For the OMNI 3K, the listed 3,000-lumen mode runs for one hour, compared with eight hours at 150 lumens. The 2013R’s listed high, medium, and low modes likewise pair decreasing output with longer runtimes. These are manufacturer figures; no common-protocol independent comparison is established here.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Start with the light level needed to see the task clearly, then compare the runtime for that mode—not just the maximum-lumen number. If your work routinely lasts longer than a listed mode runtime, consider whether you can switch to a lower setting, recharge during a break, or use a compatible spare battery system.

- For a confined repair, an adjustable head can aim light without moving the base; the 2013R is specified with an adjustable head and alternative mounting capability.
- For broader coverage, rotating panels can direct light toward more than one part of the work area; the OMNI models use this layout.
- If there is no suitable metal surface, look for the model’s alternative support. The OMNI 3K’s magnetic handle can function as a kickstand, and Milwaukee lists alternative mounting for the 2013R.
- For a battery-platform light, consider whether the magnet and pivoting head can reach the intended position; the M12 ROVER lists both.
Decide between USB-C charging and a tool battery
USB-C rechargeable lights keep charging separate from a power-tool battery ecosystem, but their charging time and runtime still matter. The OMNI 2K maker states a two-to-eight-hour charge time depending on USB output. Milwaukee’s 2013R product page identifies USB-C charging without a charge-time figure in the cited specifications. The M12 ROVER instead uses a compatible M12 battery; its stated maximum runtime specifically refers to an XC4.0Ah pack. Its listed USB output is not the same as USB-C recharging.
Choose based on what you already have and how you work: a built-in rechargeable model avoids dependence on a particular tool battery, while the ROVER may suit someone who already carries compatible M12 packs. Verify the exact battery and charging instructions in the product manual.
Which magnetic rechargeable work light should you choose?
- Choose the Milwaukee 2013R if you need compact, aimable task lighting and prefer a USB-C rechargeable light with stated alternative mounting.
- Consider the NEBO OMNI 2K if a multi-panel layout and red-light modes suit your work, and its listed output/runtime combinations meet the task.
- Consider the NEBO OMNI 3K if you want its listed 3,000-lumen maximum, rotating panels, and handle/kickstand arrangement, while accepting the shorter stated runtime at maximum output.
- Choose the Milwaukee M12 ROVER 2367-20 if using M12 batteries is more useful than a built-in USB-rechargeable format and the stated output and mounting fit your repair work.
