Love and Deepspace’s official account posted fictional, character-themed drink ingredient lists that included flame lily and datura. After criticism, it issued a warning: the drinks were for the game and should not be recreated or consumed. The available reporting does not confirm that anyone made or drank them, or that anyone was injured.
What happened with the Love and Deepspace cocktail recipes?
According to Dexerto’s October 2, 2026 report, the game’s official account posted character-themed drink ingredient lists on September 29 as part of an in-game event. One list included flame lily; another included datura. The report says the posts drew criticism because real plants appeared as cocktail ingredients in material readers could interpret as recipes. An X Community Note was also attached, according to Dexerto.

On September 30, the official account published this safety notice, reproduced by Dexerto: “Safety Notice: All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only. Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality.”
This was a safety clarification, not evidence that an actual drink was prepared or served. The reviewed reporting does not establish any real-world exposure or injury. That is a limit of the available reporting, not proof that no exposure occurred.

Why the named plants raise a safety concern
Flame lily
Flame lily is the common name used for Gloriosa superba in the medical sources. A 2022 peer-reviewed overview identifies the plant as poisonous and describes serious effects following ingestion. A 2019 BMJ Case Reports case report says all parts are toxic, particularly the tuberous rhizomes, and documents a fatal ingestion. That case demonstrates potential severity; it does not establish the risk posed by an unspecified amount shown as a garnish in a fictional post.
Datura
The CDC describes datura poisoning as anticholinergic toxicity. Its 2003 report says symptoms commonly begin within about an hour after ingestion and can persist for 24–48 hours in the setting described. This is general toxicity information, not evidence that anyone involved in the game post was exposed.

The cited sources identify serious hazards from ingesting these plants. They do not establish a safe edible use for them, and the fictional ingredient lists should not be treated as recipes.
What to do if someone may have ingested one
If someone reports actually ingesting either plant, contact your local poison center or emergency service promptly. Do not rely on a fictional post or try a home remedy.
