Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can move a Lovable or Replit project by putting its code in a repository you control, deploying that code to a suitable runtime, and separately migrating or reconnecting any backend services. Downloading or syncing the source code alone does not move databases, user accounts, uploaded files, secrets, or background processes.
What needs to move besides the code?
Before changing anything, map the pieces your app depends on. A source repository is the reviewable copy of your application; it is not necessarily a backup of production data or a complete copy of the services around the app.

- Application: framework, runtime version if specified, build and start scripts, output directory, routes, and any required listening port.
- Hosting: where the frontend is served, whether a server process must stay available, and whether the app uses scheduled or background work.
- Backend: database provider and project, server-side functions, authentication, file storage, and external APIs.
- Configuration: environment-variable names, backend URLs, project references, authentication callback URLs, and credentials that must remain private.
- Operations: custom domain, logs, health monitoring, backups, webhooks, and any persistent-storage requirements.
Record which service currently owns each item and where it should live after migration. This inventory helps distinguish a code move from a backend move.
How do I move my Lovable project to my own server?
1. Sync the project to a Git repository
Use Lovable’s Git sync to connect the project to a Git provider. The documented providers include GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. Review the resulting repository, confirm the expected application files are present, and make a known-good commit before deploying elsewhere. The available sync behavior can depend on the project and product version, so check the current Lovable documentation and project settings.

2. Find out whether Lovable Cloud is part of the app
Determine whether the app uses Lovable Cloud for its backend or connects to a separate Supabase project. These are different migration cases: syncing the code does not, by itself, move backend configuration, database contents, authentication records, storage objects, functions, or server-side secrets.
Lovable project configuration can include a backend URL and a publishable key in the application repository. Treat the URL and publishable key as configuration for connecting the client to a backend, not as evidence that the backend or its data has moved. Keep private credentials out of client-side code.

- Secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind thanks to the tough rubber hook.
- From Sandisk, a brand professional photographers trust to take on assignments.
3. Migrate or reconnect the backend separately
If the project uses Lovable Cloud, consult Lovable’s current self-hosting and backend migration instructions. Supabase troubleshooting guidance also distinguishes Lovable Cloud from a Supabase project the user can access directly, and points to Lovable’s self-hosting guidance for cloning a backend and migrating data when ordinary project access is unavailable. Follow the current instructions for the specific project rather than assuming there is one export procedure that covers every setup.

Track each backend component independently: database and schema, user and authentication records, stored files, functions, and secrets. Verify that each required component is available and correctly configured at the destination before directing production traffic there.

How do I export a Replit project to GitHub?
1. Use Replit’s Git workflow
Use the Git tool and GitHub workflow to sync or export the project to a repository you control. Replit also documents importing an existing repository. UI labels and workflow details can change, so use the current version of the Git or import instructions shown in your Replit account.
2. Verify the repository before deployment
Check that the repository contains the files needed to build and run the app, including its package scripts or runtime configuration. Make a commit you can identify as the migration starting point. Do not assume that a Git export contains production database contents, uploaded files, or private credentials; locate those separately.

- 256-BIT AES ENCRYPTION(4) – helps keep private files secure with password protection.
Which hosting setup fits the app?
Choose the destination based on what the application actually runs, rather than assuming every project can be deployed as static files. Replit’s documentation distinguishes Static, Autoscale, and Reserved VM deployment families; Reserved VM is described for always-on API servers and background workloads. Those are Replit platform terms, not names or guarantees that apply to other hosting services.
| Application need | Suitable deployment shape | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Frontend that builds to files and does not require a running application server | Static hosting | Build command, output directory, deep-link routing, and any API endpoints it calls |
| Application that needs a server process or API while handling requests | A server-capable deployment; Replit documents Autoscale among its deployment families | Start command, runtime support, listening port, environment variables, and request handling |
| API or workload that must remain available, including background work | A persistent server option; Replit describes Reserved VM for always-on APIs and background jobs | Process supervision, persistent storage needs, logs, monitoring, and how scheduled work runs |
For your selected host, use its current framework guidance to configure the build and start commands, output directory, port, and storage. Lovable and Replit projects do not share one universal deployment recipe, and service names or capabilities vary by host.

How do I configure environment variables and secrets?
Set the values the app needs in the new environment’s configuration or secret manager. Check the code and existing project settings to identify the expected variable names, backend URL, project references, API credentials, and authentication callback settings. Update references that still point to the old backend when the destination uses a different one.
- Keep private credentials on the server or in the host’s secret manager; do not commit them to Git or expose them in browser-delivered code.
- Use client-side configuration only for values intended to be public, such as a publishable client key where the backend expects one.
- Confirm that production and staging use the correct backend and credentials; do not test writes against live data by accident.
How do I test the migration before changing production traffic?
Deploy a non-production copy first. Test the app against the destination services, not just by confirming that the homepage loads.
- Open the landing page and several deep links directly, then refresh them.
- Check API connectivity and representative database reads and writes.
- Test sign-in, sign-out, password or account flows you use, and authentication callback URLs.
- Upload and retrieve files if the app uses storage.
- Exercise webhooks, external integrations, and scheduled or background work.
- Confirm that logs and health monitoring are available, and that a backup can be restored if needed.
Use project-specific acceptance checks for data consistency and app behavior. A successful code build does not establish that authentication, file handling, or backend operations work in the new environment.

How do I cut over and keep a rollback option?
- Finish staging checks and verify the destination database and other required services contain the expected data.
- Keep the existing deployment available while you change production traffic or the domain according to the selected host’s current instructions.
- Watch the new deployment’s logs and key app flows after the change. If a critical check fails, use the rollback method appropriate to your host and database.
- Retain the old deployment and a verified data backup until the new setup has passed your acceptance checks.
DNS changes, database synchronization, and rollback behavior depend on the host and backend. Plan those steps for the actual project rather than relying on a universal cutover sequence.
How should I compare the destination options?
Compare the operational fit, not just whether a provider can serve the app’s files. A static frontend with a separately managed backend has different needs from an app that depends on an always-running server or builder-managed cloud state.
Quick Recap
- Runtime: does the app need static file serving, a request-handling process, or background work?
- State: which database, user records, files, functions, and secrets remain in the builder’s cloud?
- Management: will the database be managed by a service or operated by you?
- Operations: are persistent storage, logs, backups, monitoring, and recovery available in the new setup?
- Effort and cost: what ongoing administration and service charges will the chosen combination require? The project’s actual usage and providers determine these; there is no single cost figure that applies to all Lovable or Replit migrations.
