Find the phone from a browser or another Galaxy device
- Open Samsung Find or SmartThings Find on the web, or launch the service on another Galaxy device.
- Sign in with the Samsung account associated with the missing phone.
- Select the phone in the device list and review the location and available actions.
Samsung’s US guidance says its remote-find tools depend on prerequisites including power, a stable network connection, the Samsung account, and relevant remote controls. Availability and exact screens can differ by region, model, and software version.

Understand what the location means
Phone online
A phone that is powered on and connected to a stable network may report its location through the service. Do not assume every map result is a live GPS position; the information available depends on the phone’s state and connection.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPhone powered off
Samsung says that if the phone is off, only its last known location is available. That location can help identify where it was before shutting down, but it does not show where the phone is now.
#1 Best Overall
- Find your things with ease: The SmartThings Find app uses Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to locate and keep track of your stuff
- Water and Dust Resistant: IP67 rating offers protection against dust and water immersion between 15 cm and 1 meter for up to 30 minutes
- Compatible with Galaxy Devices Only
Offline finding
If Offline finding was enabled beforehand and the device is supported, nearby Galaxy devices may help relay an offline location. Samsung UK explains that a Find Node report does not indicate the phone’s exact location. Offline finding is distinct from a fresh location update from a connected phone, and support varies by device and region. See Samsung’s UK SmartThings Find service information.
Phone may be moving
If the phone may have been left on public transport or is otherwise moving, use Track location if the option appears. Samsung’s US support guide says this feature sends updates every 15 minutes; that is the interval described in that guide, not a guarantee for every model, region, or situation. Samsung Find may also offer a notify-when-found option.

Choose the right remote action
| What you need | Action | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Hear a phone that is probably nearby | Ring | Samsung says the ring lasts one minute, even if the phone is set to mute or vibrate. |
| Check a phone that may be moving | Track location, if offered | Samsung’s US guide describes location updates every 15 minutes. Availability and results are not guaranteed. |
| Protect access to the phone | Lock | Samsung’s guide describes setting a PIN and optionally displaying an emergency contact and message on the lock screen. |
| Conserve a low battery | Extend battery life | This activates Maximum power saving mode; Samsung does not specify a guaranteed extra runtime. |
| Protect data when recovery seems unlikely | Erase data | This is a remote factory reset and can trigger account-protection steps if the phone is recovered. |
Before you erase
Erasing is destructive. Consider whether important data is backed up and whether you can access the accounts needed to set up the device again. Samsung says a Google account registered on the phone may be required to unlock it if it is recovered after erasure. If remote erasure fails, Samsung advises changing passwords for accounts that may be signed in; changing the Samsung account password logs out devices using that account.
If you suspect the phone was stolen
Do not go to the location shown on the map. Samsung Support’s direction is: “If you are using SmartThings Find or Samsung Find to locate a stolen phone or tablet, do not go directly to the location on the map. Inform the authorities and let them retrieve it for you.”

Contact your carrier to ask whether it can suspend service or provide other assistance. Samsung notes that a carrier may offer a service to help locate or suspend a device; availability depends on the carrier.

Samsung UK lists Android 8 or higher for phone and tablet offline finding, while noting that supported devices and specifications vary. That is UK service guidance and should not be taken as a universal compatibility guarantee. Samsung also states that Find My Mobile is now part of SmartThings Find; its features require a network connection and enabled settings as described on its UK support page.
