To connect a Bluetooth-capable Logitech Slim mouse to a Mac, switch it on, put it into pairing mode, then open Bluetooth in the Mac’s System Settings and select the mouse. The exact pairing control varies by model, so check the label on the underside if the steps below do not match your mouse.
Connect the mouse over Bluetooth
- Turn on the mouse. Check that it has enough battery charge; battery type and replacement steps depend on the model.
- Start pairing mode. On many Logitech devices, you do this by holding the Connect button until the status light flashes rapidly. The button and sequence can differ, so use the instructions for your specific model if needed. Logitech’s Bluetooth pairing instructions describe the general process.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the Mac. On current macOS versions, look in System Settings for Bluetooth. Logitech’s support directions use the older label “System Preferences.”
- Select the mouse in the available-device list and follow any on-screen prompts. Logitech says the light on a successfully connected device stops blinking, glows steadily for five seconds, then turns off.
Once paired, the mouse should no longer appear as an unpaired device. If it does not appear in the list, make sure pairing mode is active; switching the mouse on alone may not make it discoverable.

If your mouse is a Logi Bolt model
Logi Bolt is a specific Logitech connection system, not a label that should be assumed for every Slim mouse. For a Bolt mouse, Logitech documents a direct Bluetooth method: hold the Connect button for three seconds to begin pairing, then select the mouse in the Mac’s Bluetooth settings. Pair through a Bolt receiver with Logi Options+
- In Logi Options+, choose Add Device, then select the Logi Bolt receiver option.
- Hold the mouse’s Connect button until its light blinks rapidly.
- Choose Connect for the detected mouse and complete the verification prompts.
These steps apply to a Bolt mouse and receiver. Logitech says Bolt app features have moved to Logi Options+; its receiver pairing instructions provide the app flow.

Do you need a USB receiver?
Not necessarily. Bluetooth is a suitable first connection route if the exact mouse supports it and the Mac meets the mouse’s Bluetooth requirements. Do not buy a receiver based only on the “Slim” name: receiver support depends on the model, and Logitech Bolt and Unifying receivers are separate systems that are not cross-compatible. Logitech explains the distinction between its wireless product systems.
If you already have a receiver, check the marking on it and identify the mouse’s connection family before trying to pair them. A USB adapter is needed only if the compatible receiver’s plug does not fit the Mac’s available ports.

When the mouse will not appear or connect
- Check power. Confirm the switch is on and the battery has charge.
- Restart pairing mode. Put the mouse back into pairing mode and look for a rapidly flashing light, the general indicator Logitech describes for many devices.
- Check Bluetooth support. Logitech advises confirming both the operating system and Bluetooth Low Energy hardware support required by the particular device. Its Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance covers these checks.
- Remove an old pairing and retry. If the Mac has a stale entry for the mouse, remove it from the Bluetooth device list, then pair again. For Bolt devices, Logitech also documents unpairing through Bluetooth settings or removing the device in Logi Options+.
- Confirm the receiver family. Do not treat a Bolt receiver as interchangeable with a Unifying receiver.
- Look up the exact model. Find the model number on the underside and use the matching Logitech support page if its buttons or behavior differ from the general steps.
Logi Bolt compatibility on macOS
Logitech lists Logi Bolt products as compatible with macOS 10.14 or later when paired through a Bolt USB receiver, and macOS 10.15 or later for direct Bluetooth. These minimums apply to Bolt devices, not all Logitech Slim mice. Check the requirements for the exact model before relying on them. Logitech’s Logi Bolt operating-system compatibility information lists these requirements.
