The Logitech MX Master 4 is a right-handed productivity mouse built around MagSpeed scrolling, a thumbwheel, customizable controls and a haptic feedback panel. Its most distinctive features depend on Logitech’s Logi Options+ software, and some haptics also require a recent Windows 11 update. Before buying, check the exact consumer or business model, your operating system, and the seller’s current price and included accessories.
What the MX Master 4 offers
Logitech announced the MX Master 4 on September 30, 2025, describing it as the first MX mouse with haptics. The standard product page lists an 8,000 DPI sensor, MagSpeed scrolling and a Haptic Sense Panel. Logitech also highlights the Actions Ring, an on-screen overlay that puts shortcuts and tools around the cursor. Logitech’s launch announcement says the mouse can pair with up to three devices.
For the MX Master 4 for Business specifically, Logitech’s datasheet gives more detail: a Darkfield sensor with a 200–8,000 DPI range in 50 DPI increments, eight buttons, a thumbwheel, and right-handed dimensions of 128.2 × 88.4 × 50.8 mm at 150 g. Those are business-model specifications; confirm the consumer model’s own listing rather than assuming every detail is identical. See the MX Master 4 for Business datasheet.
Actions Ring and productivity claims
Actions Ring is customizable through Logi Options+. Users can add shortcuts and marketplace plugins, and Logitech presents the overlay as a way to reach tools without moving away from the cursor. Logitech reports “up to 33%” time savings and “up to 63%” fewer repetitive mouse movements in a 2025 Ergo Lab study involving 37 MX Master mouse users across eight desktop actions. These are Logitech-reported study results, not a guaranteed benefit or an independent comparison. Logitech’s product page describes the feature and study.

What Logi Options+ adds
Logi Options+ is Logitech’s customization application for Actions Ring and other supported settings. Logitech documents Smart Actions, app-specific customization, pointer and scrolling adjustments, gestures, battery information, and Flow, which transfers text, images and files between computers. Logitech’s Options+ page lists downloads for Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later. Those are the software page’s stated download requirements; they do not establish that every basic mouse function requires the app or that every feature is available on every platform.
Haptic feedback depends on the feature and platform
Logitech documents haptic feedback for Actions Ring navigation, Smart Actions steps, gestures and supported third-party plugins, including examples involving Zoom and Adobe Photoshop. On Windows 11, Logitech also describes native feedback when aligning objects in PowerPoint and when snapping or resizing windows. Those native Windows effects require the latest Windows operating system, which Logitech identifies as a Windows 11 update from the end of March 2026 onward. If needed, update the mouse firmware from its device settings in Options+; adjust native haptic intensity in Windows settings. Logitech’s haptics support page gives the platform and feature details.

Compatibility: verify the exact version before buying
The most detailed compatibility matrix available here is for the MX Master 4 for Business, not necessarily the consumer version. Logitech lists Logi Bolt USB-C receiver and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. Its business datasheet lists Windows 10/11 or later, macOS 12 or later, ChromeOS and Linux for both connection methods; Bluetooth additionally lists iPadOS 15 or later and Android 12 or later. The datasheet says basic functions work without software on systems other than Windows and macOS. Confirm the current specifications for the exact consumer or business SKU you plan to buy, especially if you rely on a particular operating system, receiver or software feature.
Battery, charging and what comes in the box
The business datasheet specifies a 650 mAh rechargeable battery, up to 70 days per full charge, and up to three hours of use from a one-minute USB-C quick charge. Logitech qualifies battery life as variable with usage and computing conditions. The datasheet says the charging cable is sold separately for the business model; it does not establish what is included with a consumer SKU. Check the seller’s listing for the exact version’s cable and other box contents.

How to decide whether it fits your workflow
- Choose it for software-driven shortcuts if Actions Ring, custom button assignments, Smart Actions, app profiles or Flow would help your routine and you are comfortable installing Options+.
- Consider the haptics carefully if tactile feedback is a deciding factor. Options+-based feedback and Windows-native haptics have different requirements; the latter needs the specified current Windows 11 update and, if prompted, updated mouse firmware.
- Check your connection and OS against the exact model’s current compatibility information. Do not treat the business-model matrix as definitive for the consumer mouse.
- Assess the physical design against your hand and desk setup. The business model is right-handed and relatively substantial; its listed dimensions and weight can help you judge fit, but try the exact version if size is a concern.
- Compare the controls you will actually use: MagSpeed scrolling, horizontal thumbwheel navigation, adjustable tracking, haptics and switching among paired devices matter more if they map to regular tasks than if you mainly need a basic pointer.
- Check the live regional listing for price, warranty, color, availability and included accessories. Logitech’s launch announcement and local product pages describe market-specific offers; prices and stock can change. The UK product page showed £119.99 when accessed for this article, a regional snapshot rather than a current universal price.
What Logitech says—and what is independently established
Logitech MX general manager Tolya Polyanker said in the company’s September 30, 2025 announcement: “We designed MX Master 4 to bring next level immersion and speed to our users thanks to the tactile haptic feedback and instant access to their favorite tools with the Actions Ring software overlay.” That is Logitech’s product-positioning statement, not an independent evaluation.
The cited materials are Logitech product, software, support and launch materials. They establish the manufacturer’s feature descriptions and stated compatibility conditions, but do not provide independent comparative testing or hands-on results. Treat productivity, precision, connectivity and battery claims accordingly, and use the exact SKU’s current listing to resolve purchase details.
