Logitech’s battery figures are estimates, not a guarantee of real-world runtime, and customization through Logi Options+ is limited to Windows and macOS.
What the MX Keys S offers
Logitech describes the MX Keys S as a low-profile, illuminated keyboard with spherically dished keycaps. The company says proximity sensors turn on the backlighting as your hands approach and ambient-light sensors adjust its brightness. Those are manufacturer descriptions; no independent typing, lighting or durability tests are available here.

It is a conventional full-size layout, including a numeric keypad, rather than a compact travel-oriented design. Logitech lists dimensions of 430.2 × 131.63 × 20.5 mm and a weight of 810 g. Measure your desk space before buying if you use a mouse close to the keyboard or need room for other equipment.
Connections and switching between devices
The keyboard can connect over Bluetooth Low Energy or with the included Logi Bolt USB receiver. Logitech says it is not compatible with other Logitech USB receivers, so an existing receiver from another product may not work. Easy-Switch lets you pair and switch between as many as three devices, which is useful for sharing one keyboard between, for example, a computer and a tablet.

The receiver is listed in the box, along with a USB-A-to-USB-C charging cable. You do not need to buy either as a required extra. Choose Bluetooth if you want to keep a USB port free and the host device supports it; use the included receiver if you prefer a dedicated wireless connection and have a compatible USB-A port or adapter.
Battery life and charging
Logitech rates the rechargeable 1500 mAh Li-Po battery for up to 10 days with predefined settings, or up to five months with backlighting turned off. These are manufacturer estimates, and Logitech says actual battery life varies with user and computing conditions. The keyboard charges over USB-C.

Compatibility and software features
Logitech lists support for Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Linux and iPadOS. The company says basic functions work without software on listed systems other than Windows and macOS. Logi Options+, which Logitech makes available for Windows and macOS, is needed for customization and Smart Actions.

Logitech describes Smart Actions as a way to automate multiple tasks with a single keystroke. That may suit repetitive workflows, but the feature depends on using the Options+ app on a supported computer; it should not be treated as an operating-system-independent keyboard function.

Who should consider it—and who should look elsewhere
It suits a desk-based, multi-device setup
Consider the MX Keys S if you want a numeric keypad, illuminated keys and the option to switch among up to three paired devices. Its Bluetooth and included Logi Bolt choices also give you flexibility in how to connect, while the full-size layout makes it a better fit for a permanent workspace than for someone prioritizing a small footprint.
Consider a compact keyboard if desk space matters most
At 430.2 mm wide and 810 g, the MX Keys S is substantial. Logitech’s MX Keys Mini is a more compact alternative to compare, but confirm that its layout has the keys you need before choosing it. The MX Keys S also has an optional MX palm rest sold separately; check regional availability and compatibility if you want one.
