Logitech Gaming Software Won’t Open? Choose the Right Fix for LGS or G HUB

G HUB and legacy Logitech Gaming Software need different troubleshooting. Identify the app, restart G HUB’s service if it is stuck loading, and reinstall only if simpler steps fail.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

First check which app is failing: Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) is legacy software, while Logitech G HUB has its own current startup and reinstall instructions. If G HUB opens to a spinning logo, restart its service before reinstalling. If LGS itself will not launch, use LGS-specific launch and installation checks instead; G HUB service steps are not confirmed fixes for LGS.

Identify the app and the failure

Check the program name in the Start menu, app window, or installed-app list. Logitech’s startup troubleshooting pages cover G HUB, not legacy LGS. The distinction matters because their procedures are not interchangeable.

  • G HUB shows a spinning G logo: Logitech identifies a stuck service as one possible cause. Try the service restart below.
  • G HUB’s window never appears, especially after an update: try the same low-impact restart first, then reboot; use Logitech’s reinstall path if the failure persists.
  • LGS does not open: use the separate LGS launch and installation checks later in this article.

Before troubleshooting, note your Windows version, any exact error text, and whether the problem began after an update. These details help distinguish a loading hang from an installation problem and are useful if you need support.

Fix G HUB stuck on the loading screen

Logitech says G HUB uses a service for important operations and that a stuck service can leave the logo spinning. This is a possible explanation, not a diagnosis for every launch failure. Follow Logitech’s G HUB loading troubleshooting guide:

  • Mechanical Switch Button Tensioning: A metal spring tensioning system and metal pivot hinges are built into left and right computer gaming mouse buttons for a crisp, clean click feel with rapid click feedback
  1. Quit G HUB from its notification-area (system tray) icon.
  2. Open Task Manager. In the Processes list, end LGHUB Agent and all processes named LGHUB. Leave LGHUB Updater running.
  3. In Task Manager, open the Services tab, find LGHUBUpdaterService, and restart it.
  4. Wait 10–15 seconds and confirm that the service status reads Running.
  5. Launch G HUB from the Start menu or its shortcut.

If the service will not reach Running or G HUB still does not open, restart Windows and try launching the app again. If that does not help, proceed to the reinstall steps rather than repeatedly ending processes.

Reinstall G HUB if restarting it does not work

Logitech presents reinstalling as an escalation for persistent loading failures and launches that fail after an update. Start with the automatic option. Manual cleanup is more disruptive: it removes G HUB app data, and Logitech does not promise that profiles or settings will be preserved. Save or otherwise preserve anything you need before removing those folders.

Try Logitech’s automatic reinstall first

  1. Download the latest G HUB installer from Logitech’s G HUB page.
  2. Run the installer and choose its reinstall option if it is offered.
  3. If installation fails or the app remains unable to launch, use the manual cleanup route below.

Use manual cleanup only if automatic reinstall fails

Follow Logitech’s G HUB reinstall instructions. These steps delete application data:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. In Task Manager, end LGHUB.exe, lghub_agent.exe, and lghub_updater.exe, if they are running.
  2. Delete the LGHUB folder in your user AppDataRoaming directory.
  3. Under C:ProgramData, delete the LGHUB and old.LGHUB folders if present.
  4. Restart Windows, then run the installer downloaded from Logitech.

If Windows reports Access Denied, Logitech advises using Administrator permissions. If a folder will not delete, restart Windows and try again. Logitech also advises checking Windows Updates if installation problems continue.

Logitech’s troubleshooting article suggests temporarily disabling antivirus protection during a failed installation attempt. Treat this as a limited installation diagnostic: restore protection immediately afterward, and do not leave it disabled during ordinary use.

Fix legacy Logitech Gaming Software (LGS)

Do not apply the G HUB service procedure to LGS as though Logitech confirmed it for that application. The legacy LGS user guide recommends launching the program through Windows Start search or menu, or from its taskbar icon, and checking that it is running.
