The wired Logitech G502 X is a feature-rich 89 g gaming mouse with a HERO 25K sensor, a dual-mode scroll wheel and an adjustable DPI-Shift button. Its main tradeoff is straightforward: it connects by USB, not wirelessly. Whether its lighter body and configurable controls suit you depends on your preferred weight, grip and use for those features.
What the wired Logitech G502 X includes
Logitech Support lists the G502 X at 131.4 × 41.1 × 79.2 mm and 89 g. It connects over USB and uses Logitech’s HERO 25K optical sensor, with a listed resolution range of 100–25,600 DPI. Logitech also specifies maximum acceleration above 40 G and maximum tracking speed above 400 IPS; these are product specifications, not evidence that the mouse will improve performance in every game.

The mouse has a DPI-Shift button that can be repositioned or replaced with the included blank cover. Logitech says the cover can help prevent accidental presses. Its scroll wheel can switch between free-spinning and ratcheted modes, and can tilt left or right to provide two additional programmable controls. Using those programmable controls as shortcuts may require configuration; check Logitech’s current G HUB support details if software setup is important to your decision.
Logitech G502 X pros
Lighter than earlier G502 models
At 89 g, the wired G502 X is positioned by Logitech as lighter than older G502 HERO and LIGHTSPEED models. That may appeal if you want the G502’s feature-rich layout in a lighter chassis. Weight preference is personal, however: a lighter mouse is not automatically more comfortable or suitable for every grip or player.

Flexible wheel and button controls
The wheel’s free-spin and ratcheted modes offer different scrolling behavior, while its left and right tilt can be assigned to controls. The DPI-Shift button can also be moved or covered. These options are useful if you want configurable controls, but their value depends on whether you will use them and whether their placement feels right to you.
LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches
Logitech describes LIGHTFORCE as a hybrid optical-mechanical switch design: optical actuation is combined with mechanical actuation for tactile feedback. Logitech says the design achieves higher speed and reliability through optical actuation; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent finding about click latency, durability or personal click preference.

Logitech G502 X cons and tradeoffs
It is wired
The G502 X connects by USB. A cable may matter if you want a wireless desk setup or have limited room for cable routing. The G502 X LIGHTSPEED is a separate wireless model; its wireless features should not be assumed to apply to the wired G502 X.

If you prefer a heavier mouse or want to tune its weight, the wired G502 X may be a poor fit. Logitech positions older G502 HERO and LIGHTSPEED models as options for players who prefer substantial, customizable weight. That is product positioning rather than a universal ergonomic conclusion.

Some features may go unused without setup
Wheel tilt controls are programmable, and the DPI-Shift button can be repositioned or covered. If you do not need extra controls or do not want to configure them, those features may add little to your experience. Logitech Support lists G HUB as supported at release; check current support information if software compatibility affects your purchase.
Wired G502 X vs. G502 X LIGHTSPEED and older G502 models
The main distinctions are connection type, weight options and switch design. Logitech’s comparison says the wired G502 X and older G502 HERO and LIGHTSPEED models share the HERO 25K sensor, so that feature alone does not separate them.

|---|---|---|---|
| G502 X (wired) | USB, according to Logitech Support | 89 g; Logitech positions it as lighter than older G502 variants | LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches; HERO 25K sensor |

| Older G502 HERO and LIGHTSPEED models | Varies by model | Logitech describes them as heavier options with manual weight tuning | Traditional mechanical switches; HERO 25K sensor |
Before choosing, compare the connection you want, whether weight tuning matters, and whether you prefer LIGHTFORCE hybrid or traditional mechanical switches. Also consider the button layout and wheel behavior that feel natural to you. Prices and availability vary by region and retailer, so check a current local listing rather than relying on a price seen elsewhere.

It is worth considering if you want a wired G502 with a lighter body than older versions, a broad set of configurable controls and Logitech’s LIGHTFORCE switches. Look elsewhere if wireless use or adjustable weight is a priority, or if you would rather avoid extra controls and software configuration. Specifications establish what the mouse includes; they cannot determine your comfort, grip fit or preference for its click feel.
