In LiveReacting, start with Video Bitrate: Auto. LiveReacting says Auto selects quality based on project settings. If you need a manual target, match it to your YouTube codec, resolution and frame rate, then test that the connection carrying the stream can sustain it. YouTube’s published guidance does not specify a separate bitrate for India, and no single target is reliable for every Indian connection.
How to choose a LiveReacting bitrate
- Set the project format first. Choose the resolution, frame rate and codec you intend to stream. YouTube’s recommended bitrate changes with those settings.
- In LiveReacting, leave Video Bitrate on Auto unless you have a reason to control it manually. LiveReacting’s settings guide says Auto provides optimal quality based on project settings. The guide also describes a custom video bitrate option. See the LiveReacting settings guide.
- For a manual target, use the matching YouTube recommendation in the table below. These are encoder ingestion recommendations, not a promise that your internet connection can hold the bitrate.
- Test the actual upload connection that will carry the stream, using YouTube’s recommended speed-test and pre-stream checks. Test representative motion and audio, then monitor stream health during the broadcast.
- Adjust if the test is unstable. Lower the target or return to Auto and test again. This is a practical way to apply YouTube’s instruction to choose a reliable quality for your connection; it is not a published India-specific formula.
YouTube bitrate recommendations by format
The following values are YouTube’s recommended ingestion bitrates for the listed formats. Select the row and codec that match your stream rather than treating one number as a universal target.

| Resolution and frame rate | H.264 | AV1 or H.265 |
|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 8 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 720p60 | 8 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | 14 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | 17 Mbps | 12 Mbps |
These figures come from YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance. They describe the signal sent to YouTube. YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats, so the encoder bitrate is not a direct specification of what every viewer will receive.
What “for Indian internet connections” means in practice
There is no India-wide bitrate in the reviewed official guidance. An ISP plan’s advertised speed alone does not establish the sustained upload available to a particular stream: the connection, local network conditions and congestion matter. The practical decision is based on a test of the connection and setup you will actually use, not a nationwide assumption.
#1 Best Overall
- OneMesh Compatible Router - Form a seamless WiFi when work with TP-Link OneMesh WiFi Extenders
- Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 Technology – The Archer AX10 leverages advanced Wi-Fi 6 features like OFDMA and 1024-QAM to deliver improved efficiency across your entire network. Perfect for high-bandwidth activities like streaming, gaming, and smart home connectivity.
- Next-gen Dual Band router - 300 Mbps on 2. 4 GHz (802. 11n) plus 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz (802. 11ax)
- Connect more devices than ever before - Wi-Fi 6 technology simultaneously communicates more data to more devices using OFDMA and MU-MIMO while reducing lag dramatically
- Powerful Dual-Core 900MHz Processor – Handles multiple data streams simultaneously for reliable performance across your devices. Ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and video conferencing without buffering or lag.
- Run an upload speed test on the network and device that will carry the event.
- Perform a pre-stream test using the intended resolution, frame rate, codec, movement and audio.
- Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages during the event.
- If the selected bitrate is not stable, reduce the target or use Auto, then repeat the test.
YouTube recommends speed testing, representative preflight testing and stream-health monitoring. It does not prescribe a fixed upload-speed margin in the cited guidance, so avoid treating an arbitrary percentage as an official rule.
Auto versus manual bitrate
Use Auto when
You want LiveReacting to select the video bitrate based on project settings and do not have a specific reason to constrain it. Auto is the starting point recommended in LiveReacting’s guide.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Use a manual value when
You need explicit control and have already settled on a codec, resolution and frame rate. Choose the corresponding YouTube recommendation, then verify it with a real upload and stream test. A manual setting is not inherently better if the connection cannot sustain it.

Troubleshooting bitrate and stream-health problems
| Symptom | What to check | Practical fix |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health is poor or unstable | Whether the upload connection sustains the selected bitrate during a representative test. | Try a lower target or Auto and repeat the pre-stream test. |
| The chosen number seems unsuitable | Whether it matches the selected codec, resolution and frame rate. | Use the matching row in YouTube’s recommendation table rather than a generic bitrate. |
| Test results look better than the live event | Whether the test used the same network and representative motion and audio. | Repeat the test in conditions close to the actual broadcast and monitor stream health while live. |
| You expect the encoder bitrate to define every viewer’s quality | YouTube transcodes streams for multiple output formats. | Evaluate the incoming stream’s health separately from viewers’ available playback formats. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a prerecorded YouTube video running continuously rather than a LiveReacting event that you operate, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start at StreamNeo’s free-trial signup.
