For a 1080p YouTube stream sent through Livepush, first choose the frame rate that matches your source, then distinguish Livepush’s recommended input bitrate from YouTube’s codec-specific ingest recommendation. Livepush lists 2.5–4.5 Mbps at 30 fps and 4.5–8 Mbps at 60 fps; YouTube’s current guidance lists higher rates that vary by codec. The two services’ published pages do not explain how those figures map to each stage of a Livepush-relayed stream, so test your exact setup before an event.
Recommended 1080p settings at a glance
| Setting | Practical choice | Published guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 1920 × 1080 | Livepush supports 1080p; YouTube supports 1080p streaming. |
| Frame rate | 30 fps for a 30-fps source; use 60 fps if the source is 60 fps and the added motion detail matters. | Both services list support up to 60 fps. |
| Rate control | CBR | Both services list constant bitrate. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | Both recommend 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds, and Livepush lists 4 seconds as its maximum. |
| Video codec | H.264 is the common explicitly documented baseline. | Livepush recommends H.264 for input; YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for encoder settings. The pages do not establish a complete end-to-end codec compatibility matrix for Livepush relay. |
| Audio | AAC at 128 kbps stereo is the overlapping documented choice. | Livepush lists AAC-LC or Opus and recommends 128 kbps; YouTube lists AAC or MP3 and recommends 128 kbps stereo. End-to-end support for every combination is not established. |
Which bitrate should you set?
Livepush input guidance
Livepush Help Center’s 2025 “Recommended settings for Live streaming” lists these 1080p ranges for sending a live stream to Livepush:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- 1080p at 30 fps: 2.5–4.5 Mbps.
- 1080p at 60 fps: 4.5–8 Mbps.
These are Livepush’s published input recommendations, not YouTube’s ingest table. The same service’s undated product page, checked in 2026, separately gives a 1080p event-source range of 4,000–8,000 kbps. Because the pages present different figures for different contexts, do not treat them as interchangeable.
YouTube ingest guidance
YouTube Help’s encoder recommendations, on the page checked in 2026, vary by codec and frame rate:

| 1080p frame rate | AV1 or H.265/HEVC | H.264 |
|---|---|---|
| 30 fps | 10 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 60 fps | 12 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s recommended ingest bitrates. They are not Livepush input figures. The reviewed official pages do not explain why Livepush’s input ranges are lower or specify how to reconcile the settings across a relay. Configure the encoder for the stage it is sending to, follow the applicable service’s published guidance, and verify the actual relay-to-YouTube result with a test stream rather than assuming the numbers describe one identical link.
Choose 30 fps or 60 fps
- Use 30 fps when the source is 30 fps or the program is mostly static, such as a talk, presentation, or slow-moving scene. Keeping the source and output frame rates aligned avoids needlessly converting the video.
- Use 60 fps when the source is genuinely 60 fps and fast motion benefits from smoother movement. It requires more bitrate under both services’ guidance.
Do not expect a 60-fps output setting to create motion detail that was not captured in a 30-fps source.

Configure and verify the stream
- Check the source first. Confirm its resolution, frame rate, video codec, and audio format. Choose 1080p and match the source’s 30 or 60 fps rather than converting without a reason.
- Set the encoder’s destination and key. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live, select or create the stream, and copy its stream key. Enter the key in the Livepush destination configuration. Treat the key like a password; do not share it or show it on screen.
- Set the video encoder. Use H.264 as the explicitly shared baseline, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Select a bitrate from the Livepush input range for your chosen 1080p frame rate when configuring the stream sent to Livepush. Where YouTube’s ingest recommendations apply to a direct encoder-to-YouTube connection, use the corresponding codec-and-fps value in its table; the sources do not define an equivalent conversion rule for a relayed stream.
- Set audio conservatively. Use AAC at 128 kbps stereo when available as the overlapping documented option. Check the actual encoder and relay configuration if selecting Opus or another audio format.
- Run a test with representative content. Include movement and audio similar to the planned program. Confirm the picture, synchronization, and audio at YouTube before the real event.
- Monitor the YouTube stream-health panel and messages. Look for dropped frames, unstable bitrate, encoder warnings, or audio problems while the test or event is running. Change one setting at a time and retest.
Livepush plan resolution note
Livepush Help Center’s June 17, 2024 article states that the Free plan is limited to 1080p. That is dated plan information, not a timeless technical limit; check Livepush’s current plan terms before relying on it. The article separately documents 1080p support, while both Livepush and YouTube list support up to 60 fps.
Copyright and YouTube live rules
Bitrate and resolution do not grant permission to broadcast content. Use video, music, and other material you own or are authorized to stream, and check YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream policies before going live. A test stream can reveal technical issues, but it does not establish that you have the rights to the content.

Troubleshooting common 1080p problems
YouTube reports an unstable or insufficient bitrate
Check whether the encoder’s upload connection can sustain the selected rate, including overhead and normal network variation. Verify that you chose the correct frame-rate and codec guidance for the destination, and test again on the same connection you intend to use. If the problem persists, lower the input bitrate within the applicable Livepush range and assess the stream health rather than changing several settings at once.
The image looks soft, blocky, or smeared in motion
Confirm that the source is actually 1080p and that the encoder is not scaling it down. Fast motion is more demanding than a static image, so test with representative movement. If the stream is stable but detail still suffers, try the upper end of Livepush’s published range for the selected frame rate, then verify the relayed output at YouTube.

Video or audio does not appear at YouTube
Recheck the stream key, selected YouTube destination, encoder status, and audio-track routing. A key copied from a different stream or an unsupported codec combination can prevent the expected result; H.264 and AAC are the common documented choices, but the pages do not promise every end-to-end combination.
Keyframe or frame-rate warnings appear
Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds and confirm that the encoder is actually outputting the selected 30 or 60 fps. Do not exceed a 4-second keyframe interval according to YouTube’s guidance; Livepush also lists 4 seconds as its maximum.
