Agencies can run dependable client livestreams by confirming account eligibility and permissions first, choosing a workflow that fits the event, rehearsing the technical setup, assigning clear show roles, and planning promotion and post-event reuse. Start with the destination—not the camera: a client’s channel may need verification, live access or advance scheduling before the production team can go on air.
How do agencies live stream for clients?
Use a repeatable workflow that separates client decisions, platform readiness and show-day production. Agree on the audience, event purpose, public or registration-based access, account owners, and the post-event asset before selecting equipment or software.
- Brief the client: Confirm the target audience, event goal, speakers, desired interaction, destination platforms, recording and clip approvals, and who owns each account.
- Verify destination readiness: Check eligibility, channel status, restrictions, account permissions, and any activation or scheduling lead time. Do not assume the agency’s own account status applies to the client’s.
- Choose production and distribution: Match a simple webcam or mobile workflow, browser studio, or encoder/RTMP setup to the format, destination count and production complexity.
- Schedule and promote: Publish the event details early enough to invite the intended audience and prepare any registration flow.
- Rehearse the complete show: Test the actual cameras, audio, graphics, network and destinations with realistic motion and speech.
- Run the event with named roles: Have a host lead the program, a producer operate the stream, and a moderator watch audience interaction and flag issues.
- Close the loop: Confirm the replay, create approved highlights, and send follow-up resources to attendees.
Check platform readiness before production day
YouTube
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take at least 24 hours, so enable and confirm access well before rehearsal. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and setup guidance.
LinkedIn Live
LinkedIn Live is available to eligible members and Pages and requires a compatible external broadcast tool or custom RTMP workflow; it is not a direct in-platform camera broadcast. LinkedIn says spontaneous go-live ended June 22, 2026, and events must now be scheduled ahead. Use the current LinkedIn Live Overview to verify eligibility and workflow. Scheduling creates time to publish and promote an event page, which LinkedIn describes as a place to manage event details and potentially collect registrations.

Account access should be explicit: identify who can retrieve stream keys or RTMP URLs, who can authorize the production tool, and who is allowed to end or restart the broadcast. Store credentials securely and avoid sharing a client’s key more broadly than necessary.
Choose a production workflow that fits the show
Mobile or webcam
YouTube lists mobile, webcam and encoder workflows. Mobile is suited to quick updates; a webcam workflow is a straightforward computer-based option for a simple presenter-led session. These approaches minimize setup but offer less production control than an encoder-based show.
Browser-based production studio
A browser service can simplify a branded, multi-person studio workflow. Before proposing one, verify its current destination matrix and plan limits: support can vary by platform, orientation, scheduling, comments, viewer counts, approval requirements and multistream availability. StreamYard’s documentation lists Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Twitch, Kick and Vimeo as native destinations, as well as custom RTMP destinations with limited features. Its own documentation says LinkedIn can be included alongside other destinations, but not multiple LinkedIn profiles or Pages at the same time. These are StreamYard-specific capabilities, not universal rules for every tool. See its destination matrix and multistream guidance.
Encoder or RTMP production
An encoder workflow suits productions that need more control over scenes, overlays, graphics or hardware such as microphones, audio interfaces and cameras. It is commonly used for larger productions such as conferences. Confirm that each destination accepts the planned workflow and obtain its current encoder settings; there is no single setting that fits every platform, resolution and frame rate.
Local encoding or cloud relay for multiple destinations
With local encoding, a capable computer encodes the program and sends it to destinations. A cloud relay receives one outgoing stream and distributes it, which can reduce local computer load and simplify delivery to more than two destinations. The right choice depends on the production tool’s current destination support, cost, client access controls and network capacity. Check those details directly before committing.

Plan aspect ratio and destination differences
Choose landscape, vertical or both based on where viewers will watch and what the event needs to show. YouTube says vertical live streams can appear in the Shorts feed and offer a full-screen mobile experience. Its current Live Control Room can create horizontal and vertical outputs from one stream; the vertical feed is center-cropped by default, with alternate vertical layouts available. Review the current platform feature guidance because product behavior can change.
YouTube notes that horizontal and vertical streams differ in features, including clickable links, ads, Live Redirect and 4K broadcast support. A crop can cut off slides, lower thirds or speakers, so compose and rehearse for the selected format rather than assuming one layout will translate cleanly. If the client wants both orientations, confirm how the chosen production tool creates and manages each output.
What equipment and upload speed does an agency need?
Build the kit around the production
For a simple presenter-led stream, a computer, camera and microphone with stable internet may be enough. StreamYard’s setup guide recommends a computer, mic, camera and stable connection, and prefers Ethernet; see its first-steps checklist. Multi-camera events may also require lighting, an audio interface, additional cameras or a hardware/software encoder. Select equipment to solve the client’s actual production needs; no particular camera or microphone model is established here as a best choice.
Size the connection for all destinations
For simulstreaming, count the aggregate outgoing target bitrates, not just the bitrate for one destination. YouTube’s guidance gives an example of two target streams at 6 Mbps and 4 Mbps: 10 Mbps combined, for which it advises aiming for 15–20 Mbps upload—1.5–2 times the combined target. That is YouTube’s example and recommendation, not a guarantee for every codec, resolution, frame rate or network. Read YouTube’s guidance on streaming across platforms.
Use the encoder settings recommended by each destination and test the real show setup. A speed test alone will not reveal every problem: shared connections, Wi-Fi interference, competing uploads, variable audio/video complexity and computer load can all affect delivery. Prefer a wired connection where practical and watch stream health during rehearsal and the live event.

Schedule, promote and run the event
Schedule early enough to build an audience
On LinkedIn, schedule the event ahead of time, then use its event page to share details and promote speakers. In the client brief, decide who approves copy and graphics, who sends invitations, whether registration is needed, and who answers attendee questions. LinkedIn’s Getting Started with Live Events recommends scheduling, promotion, interaction, repurposing and attendee follow-up.
Assign host, producer and moderator
- Host: Opens and closes the program, introduces speakers and manages transitions.
- Producer: Monitors the stream, scenes, audio, graphics and destination health; coordinates speaker handoffs.
- Moderator: Watches comments and questions, responds or flags items for the host, and applies the client’s moderation rules.
One person can cover more than one role in a small production, but name the responsibilities in advance. Rehearse the opening, speaker transitions, slides, audience questions and fallback plan if a guest or destination disconnects. Confirm who has the authority and access to restart or end the broadcast.
Reuse the recording and follow up
Decide before the event who will check the replay, obtain or download the recording, select highlights, caption clips, secure client approval and distribute follow-up materials. LinkedIn says its Lives are public and recorded; after a stream ends, it remains on the profile or Page as a previously recorded live video. Confirm the client is comfortable with that public replay behavior before choosing LinkedIn Live.
LinkedIn’s marketing guidance suggests running a stream longer than 15 minutes and ending after 1–2 hours to allow the audience to grow while avoiding drop-off. Treat this as LinkedIn’s recommendation, not a universal engagement threshold. Adapt the duration to the event purpose and audience, then send attendees relevant resources and follow-up.
Or let it run in the cloud
For an uploaded-video YouTube stream that needs to stay live around the clock, StreamNeo is a different workflow from producing a live client event: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded video, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, then start the free first day.

Troubleshoot common production problems
Destination access is missing on show day
Likely cause: Eligibility, verification, restrictions, permissions or first-time activation was not checked. Fix: Verify the client’s account well before production; for first-time YouTube access, allow at least 24 hours for activation. Confirm LinkedIn eligibility and schedule the event in advance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe stream drops frames or becomes unstable
Likely cause: Insufficient or inconsistent upload capacity, shared network use, or excessive computer load. Fix: Compare available upload capacity with the aggregate target bitrate, use YouTube’s 1.5–2x guidance as a planning reference for simulstreaming, prefer Ethernet, pause unnecessary uploads, and rehearse with the intended resolution and frame rate.
Audio is distorted, missing or out of sync
Likely cause: Incorrect input selection, clipping, or a connection issue. Fix: Check the selected mic and levels, listen on headphones, test every speaker and transition, and monitor audio during the rehearsal rather than relying on meters alone.
Vertical framing cuts off the subject or slides
Likely cause: The vertical output is center-cropped from a horizontal composition. Fix: Rehearse the actual vertical output, reposition important content within the safe area, or choose an alternate vertical layout where available.
A destination does not receive the simulstream
Likely cause: Unsupported destination, account authorization, RTMP configuration or a tool-specific multistream restriction. Fix: Check the production tool’s current destination matrix and plan details, reauthorize the correct client account, verify the destination’s stream key or RTMP URL, and test every destination before the event.

Costs and workflow checks before quoting a client
Tool prices, plan names, destination counts and features change; confirm current terms directly before adding production software to a client quote. As one vendor-specific example, StreamYard’s current plan guidance accessed in 2026 lists multistream limits of 3 destinations on Core, 8 on Advanced and 10 on Business. Verify the current plan names and limits in its multistream help page.
Compare the complete workflow rather than the headline destination count:
- Does it support the client’s specific account and destination permissions?
- Can it schedule the event and support the intended registration process?
- Does it handle landscape, portrait or simultaneous aspect ratios as needed?
- Can the producer see and moderate comments from the relevant destinations?
- Will it record the program in a way that supports approved clips and follow-up?
- Are privacy settings, client access, plan limits and recurring costs clear?
- Does local encoding or cloud distribution better fit the available computer, network and team skills?
