CKAD: Kubernetes application development
The CKAD bundle pairs the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer exam with LFD259, Kubernetes for Developers. It is oriented toward developing applications for Kubernetes rather than administering the platform.
The launch announcement describes Linux Foundation certifications as vendor-neutral and command-line focused, with assessments based on real-world problem solving. Those are the Foundation’s stated characteristics; prospective buyers should review each certification’s current exam and course details before choosing a path.
Can a company buy team training or request volume pricing?
Yes. The Linux Foundation’s AWS Marketplace information page says organizations purchasing for teams of 10 or more can request courses and certifications tailored to specific training objectives, with volume-discount pricing. Why use AWS Marketplace rather than buy directly?

Whether a specific purchase qualifies for an organization’s budget or discount arrangement depends on that organization’s AWS agreement and internal purchasing rules.
For an individual learner, the Marketplace route may be convenient if the desired course or exam is currently listed and the buyer is authorized to purchase there. A direct Linux Foundation purchase is another route to investigate; compare the current listing, included preparation, delivery terms, and purchasing requirements rather than assuming the Marketplace and direct offers are identical.

What Linux Foundation says its certifications demonstrate

Clyde Seepersad, then SVP and General Manager of Training & Certification at the Linux Foundation, said: “Our certifications, including CKA and CKAD, set the industry standards for cloud native IT professionals.” Treat this as the Foundation’s characterization, not an independent ranking of certification programs.
