Neither is automatically better. “Lightweight” and “ultralight” are marketing labels, not categories with a shared weight cutoff in the sources cited here. Compare the listed grams, then choose by shape, hand size, grip, game and feature needs. A mouse that feels comfortable through a long session is a better fit than one chosen for its label alone.
What do “lightweight” and “ultralight” mean?
There is no established industry-wide cutoff in the cited manufacturer pages and buyer guide that separates a lightweight mouse from an ultralight one. The terms are used in product marketing, but a label alone does not tell you how heavy a mouse is or whether it suits your hand. Compare the manufacturer’s stated weight for the exact model instead.

These examples show the range: the Corsair Sabre V2 Pro is listed at 36 g by PC Gamer; Razer lists the DeathAdder V3 HyperSpeed at 55 g; ASUS lists the TUF Gaming M3 Gen II at 59 g; and Logitech describes the PRO X Superlight 2 as about 63 g. Those are source-reported product figures, not boundaries for either category.

Choose shape and fit before chasing the lowest weight
Weight affects how a mouse feels as you move it, but it is only one part of the fit. Logitech recommends considering hand size and grip alongside weight and sensor specifications, and checking comfort during longer sessions. Razer likewise treats weight, shape, connection and button count as separate choices.
#1 Best Overall

- Highly Versatile Shape: Hold it your way—whether you’re gaming or just getting things done, the symmetrical design ensures your grip always feels natural and secure.
- Dual-Zone RGB Lighting: More than just a glowing logo, dual RGB zones flood the mouse's flared side panels with vibrant color. Instantly customize with quick button shortcuts or fine-tune to perfection using Glorious CORE software.
- 80-Million-Rated Mechanical Switches: Precise and durable, delivering crisp clicks through countless matches without double-clicking issues.
- 6 Remappable Buttons: Map your go-to equipment, abilities, and shortcuts exactly where they feel right with Glorious CORE software, keeping your actions seamless in-game and beyond.
- Hand size: Check whether the mouse’s length and width let you reach the buttons without stretching or bunching your fingers.
- Grip: A mouse that suits a palm grip may feel different from one that works well with a claw or fingertip grip. Pick the shape that lets you hold and control it naturally.
- Shape: Symmetrical and ergonomic designs feel different in the hand. If possible, try the shape rather than assuming a lighter mouse will feel more comfortable.
- Long sessions: Comfort over time matters more than a quick first impression. Logitech’s shape and grip guidance explains these fit considerations at Gaming Mice: Shapes, Grips, & Performance.
Match the mouse to the games and controls you use
A lighter mouse can suit players who make frequent, fast movements in FPS games, but its weight alone does not establish that it will improve aim or accuracy. Logitech’s buying guide points to lightweight mice for FPS play; for MMO or MOBA players, a palm-grip design with many programmable buttons may be more useful than minimizing weight. Think about the controls and shape your games call for, not just the number on the spec sheet.
Compare the features and tradeoffs that matter
After narrowing down by fit and play style, compare connection type, sensor and polling specifications, battery expectations, and button count. A high polling rate can have a model-specific effect on battery life, so check the figures for the exact mouse rather than assuming every lightweight model behaves the same way.

For example, PC Gamer reports that the 36 g Corsair Sabre V2 Pro lasts 70 hours at 1 kHz and 16 hours at 8 kHz, and has one onboard profile. These are figures for that model, not a universal drawback of ultralight mice. Its stated five buttons and wired USB-C or 2.4 GHz wireless connections may also matter more to a particular player than a few grams of difference.

How light should a gaming mouse be?
There is no single ideal weight established by these sources. Use the listed weight as one comparison point, then consider whether the mouse’s shape, grip, controls and connection suit the way you play. If a lighter mouse feels less stable or comfortable in your hand, the lower number is not an advantage for you.

No general performance result in the cited sources shows that a particular weight class improves aim for all players. Logitech’s 2020 launch announcement quotes professional Counter-Strike player s1mple praising the original PRO X SUPERLIGHT, but a player endorsement is personal testimony, not a measured finding that applies to every user. The announcement’s historical claim that the original model weighed under 63 g and was nearly 25% lighter than the standard PRO Wireless refers to that first-generation product, not the PRO X Superlight 2. See Logitech’s November 18, 2020 launch announcement.
