The Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite is a high-stack, carbon-plated road racer built for half marathon and marathon efforts and for faster long-distance training. Independent testing by RTINGS.com, reviewed May 28, 2026, rates it as protective, energetic, and smooth through the stride, with its strongest scores in race and long-run use. The trade-offs are a soft platform that feels less planted than a stability-oriented shoe, and an arch area that runs notably narrow even though the toe box is roomy. Buy it for racing and long runs, and check fit before you commit.
Who the Feidian 6 Elite is designed for
Li-Ning positions the Feidian Elite line for half marathon and longer distances, and for pre-race speed sessions. RTINGS reaches a similar conclusion for the Feidian 6 Elite specifically: its use score is 8.4 out of 10 for half and full marathon racing and 8.0 for long runs, against 7.5 for 5K/10K racing and 6.5 for daily training. In practical terms, this is a shoe for runners who want a fast, cushioned platform on race day and on long, controlled efforts, not a high-mileage everyday trainer.

RTINGS’ verdict reads: “The Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite is a great choice for marathon racing.” That is the publisher’s editorial conclusion from the review by David Marquez, Robin Bonneau Patry, and Yannick Khong, not a personal endorsement from any named runner.

What the shoe is built from
Li-Ning describes the Feidian Elite as a carbon plate sandwiched between two BOOM cushioning layers. The Vietnam family page also adds BOOM cushioning under the toes. RTINGS identifies the Feidian 6 Elite’s plate as carbon fiber and its primary foam as Super Boom/PEBA, which is the chemistry that gives the shoe its lively, springy feel.
#1 Best Overall
- SUPER BOOM: This is an upgrade of BOOM technology in terms of lightweight and appearance, which further significantly reduces the weight of the midsole; Through targeted performance tuning, the soft and hard rebound of the midsole can accurately match the competitive needs of different professional sports scenarios
- BOOM FIBER: The shoes adopt BOOM FIBER technology, which uses new spinning technology and unique weaving technology to make the upper lightweight, breathable, comfortable, not easily deformed, and has a longer service life
- CARBON-FIBER PLATE: Carbon fiber plate is lighter in weight, higher in strength, and has good toughness, seismic resistance, and impact resistance; This technology helps to provide good support and force transmission during exercise, reduce exercise losses, and improve athletic performance
- APEX PROPULSION:Utilizes biomimetic principles to design a pillow shaped shaft below the metatarsal bone, coupled with the bending stiffness of the built-in support plate in the bottom material; With the help of lever principles, it effectively provides assistance to runners during the forefoot extension stage, greatly improving the efficiency of extension and enhancing athletic performance
- GCU: Groud Control Unit is a new type of cast polyurethane; It can provide excellent anti-skid, wear resistance, and moisture resistance to the sole, and can adapt to more environmental climates and sports scenes
The result is a full-length plate with rockered geometry, meaning the sole is shaped to roll the foot forward through toe-off. RTINGS describes the overall ride as highly cushioned and energetic.

For the sixth-generation shoe, the RTINGS measurements are the more specific reference, though they are one publisher’s measurements under its own test conditions.
How it performs on the road
RTINGS scores the Feidian 6 Elite as follows, on its own 10-point test scale:
Rank #3
- SUPER BOOM: This is an upgrade of BOOM technology in terms of lightweight and appearance, which further significantly reduces the weight of the midsole; Through targeted performance tuning, the soft and hard rebound of the midsole can accurately match the competitive needs of different professional sports scenarios
- BOOM FIBER: The shoes adopt BOOM FIBER technology, which uses new spinning technology and unique weaving technology to make the upper lightweight, breathable, comfortable, not easily deformed, and has a longer service life

| Test category | Score (out of 10) |
|---|---|
| Energy return | 8.9 |
| Cushioning | 9.0 |
| Bounciness | 8.1 |
| Snappiness | 7.5 |
| Roll | 8.2 |
| Stability | 6.2 |
| True-to-size fit | 8.8 |
These scores reflect RTINGS’ methodology, which combines instrumented measurement with evaluation by its testers. They describe how the shoe compares in that test set, not how it will feel to every runner.
Energy return and protection
The high energy return score and the 9.0 cushioning score are the shoe’s clearest strengths. RTINGS notes that the protection holds up at both heel and forefoot over long distances, which is why the shoe suits marathon-length running better than short, fast sessions where its softness matters less.
Rank #4
- SUPER BOOM: This is an upgrade of BOOM technology in terms of lightweight and appearance, which further significantly reduces the weight of the midsole; Through targeted performance tuning, the soft and hard rebound of the midsole can accurately match the competitive needs of different professional sports scenarios

Stability and the soft platform
The main drawback is stability. At 6.2 out of 10, it is the lowest score in the set. RTINGS says the soft, plush platform can feel less planted than a firmer racer, and it advises against using the shoe for easy everyday miles or for runners with wide arches or who need more support. Some strong heel strikers may find the platform too unsettled for comfort, so if your stride is heavy at the heel, test the shoe at race pace before a long race.
How does the Feidian 6 Elite fit?
RTINGS reports that the shoe fits true to size in length, with roomy forefoot width and height. The arch area, however, is notably narrow and can create pressure for some feet. The review lists no wide sizing.

- If you have a standard forefoot and a normal or low arch, the shoe’s listed fit is likely to work at your usual size.
- If you have wide arches, the RTINGS review specifically advises caution, so check whether the seller accepts returns on a worn-in shoe before you run in it.
- Do not assume that a half size up will fix arch pressure. The arch is narrow, not short, so a bigger size changes length more than arch width.
Is it good for a marathon?
For a runner who wants a responsive, cushioned shoe that stays comfortable over 20 to 42 kilometres, RTINGS’ results point in a clear direction: the Feidian 6 Elite is a race shoe first. Its marathon score of 8.4 reflects strong cushioning and energy return, while its stability score and daily-training score are its weakest points. If you need a shoe that holds a line on tired legs, the stability score should weigh heavily in your decision.
How does it compare with the Nike Alphafly 3?
The Nike Alphafly 3 and the New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 are the two most useful comparisons for this shoe. The comparisons below use RTINGS’ head-to-head measurements, and each comparison reflects that publisher’s test set.
| Shoe | Weight | Heel stack | Forefoot stack | Measured drop | RTINGS characterization |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite | 205.1 g | 39.7 mm | 34.3 mm | 5.4 mm | More cushioned and energetic; softer platform |
| New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 | 200.5 g | 39.4 mm | Not stated | 8.9 mm | Firmer, more controlled platform; multiple widths |
| Nike Alphafly 3 | 200.7 g | 39.8 mm | 33.4 mm | 6.4 mm | Not stated in the comparison |
The practical split is simple. Choose the Feidian if you want more cushioning and energy and you are comfortable with a softer, less planted ride. Choose the New Balance if you want a firmer platform and width options, which matters for runners with wider feet or who need more control. The Alphafly 3 comes in with a higher drop; the RTINGS comparison does not declare a universal winner, and neither should you.

Before you buy
- Confirm the exact model name, Feidian 6 Elite, on the product page, since the Feidian line includes several versions.
- Check the listed weight and drop against the figures above and note which source the seller is quoting.
- Read the seller’s return policy before you buy, since you may need to test the arch fit.
- Confirm the current price and stock with the seller, because neither was verified for this review.
The Feidian 6 Elite suits runners who want a cushioned, energetic racer for half and full marathon efforts. Its soft platform and narrow arch make it a poor fit for stability needs and wide arches.
