For U.S. buyers, LG has the strongest brand-level reliability result available for 2026: Consumer Reports data reproduced on LG’s website ranks it first among 16 TV brands, with a predicted reliability score of 94/100. That is a survey-based estimate of problems through a TV’s fifth year—not a guarantee that every LG set will outlast every rival.
What the 2026 U.S. reliability result says
Consumer Reports data reproduced by LG ranks LG first of 16 brands at 94/100 for predicted TV reliability. The same comparison lists Westinghouse, Samsung, Philips, and Sony at 86/100. LG says the Consumer Reports comparison draws on 121,881 new TV purchases from 2015–2025 and attributes the displayed results to Consumer Reports Summer Surveys from 2023, 2024, and 2025. See LG’s reproduction of the comparison.

The source matters: this is Consumer Reports data presented on a manufacturer’s site, not an endorsement of LG by Consumer Reports. The score is also a prediction, not a measured lifespan or a percentage chance that a TV will fail. Consumer Reports describes the measure as the likelihood of a newly purchased TV having a problem by the end of its fifth year, adjusted for use and whether the owner has an extended warranty or service contract. Its 2026 TV buying guide similarly describes reliability in terms of estimated problems or breakage within five years, based on its 2022–2024 summer surveys.

Why there is no proven worldwide winner
The available evidence is tied to different countries and methods, so it does not establish one reliable-TV brand for the whole world.

UK survey: current sample, scores not visible
Which? published a UK TV-brand survey on 10 August 2026 based on 5,911 TVs surveyed in May 2026. Its reliability measure considers how many products develop faults, how soon faults appear, and their effect on everyday use. The accessible page lists 14 brands but hides the brand-score analysis behind membership access, so it does not support naming a UK winner. Read Which?’s survey details.
Accelerated testing: useful design clues, not a brand ranking
RTINGS reports that, in its three-year accelerated longevity test of 100 TVs, 20 had complete failures and another 24 had partial failures. Those are outcomes within a selected test group under accelerated conditions, not expected household failure rates. RTINGS flags durability problems in thin edge-lit LCD designs and suggests considering direct-lit or full-array local dimming LCDs when longevity is a priority. The results offer design context, not a universal ranking of TV manufacturers. See RTINGS’ test and methodology.

In the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s 2026 U.S. study, Hisense, Samsung, and Vizio shared the TV satisfaction lead at 81; TCL scored 78 after a four-point decline. Ease of arranging TV repairs fell 7%. These figures measure satisfaction and service experience, not how often televisions break. The distinction matters because apps, support calls, and repair access can shape ownership even when a set has no hardware fault.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. How to use the brand result when choosing a TV
- Use LG as a starting point, not a guarantee. Its 94/100 result is the strongest supported U.S. brand-level reliability signal here, but it does not establish the reliability of every model.
- Check the exact model. Consumer Reports’ 2026 buying guide includes LG OLED examples such as OLED55C5PUA and OLED55G4SUB. Their inclusion is not proof that either model is more reliable than competing sets; compare current model-specific reliability information where available.
- For LCD, check the backlight design. RTINGS’ accelerated test points to direct-lit or full-array local dimming LCDs as options to consider over thin edge-lit designs when longevity is a priority. That is a design consideration, not proof that one brand always lasts longer.
- Compare the ownership terms. Review warranty length and exclusions, local repair availability, retailer return terms, and the fit between the TV’s size, price, and picture features and your needs. The brand-level reliability evidence does not establish that any manufacturer has universally lower repair costs or better service.
A brand score can narrow the field, but the decision still depends on the individual model and the support available where you live. Treat predicted reliability, satisfaction, and lab-style durability testing as separate kinds of evidence rather than interchangeable rankings.
