Laytr is a save-for-later app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that accepts more than article links: you can save recipes, videos, PDFs, screenshots and other shareable items, then organize them into cases and choose when they should resurface. It also offers imports from Pocket, Instapaper and Omnivore, but its offline copies have limits on dynamic, gated and paywalled pages.
What Laytr saves—and how it organizes your items
Laytr’s basic workflow is to share an item to the app, optionally choose when you want it back, and find it again when that date arrives. The range goes beyond a conventional reading queue: the app is positioned for links, recipes, videos, screenshots and PDFs, and TechCrunch also reports support for bookmarks and browser tabs. Laytr says it can automatically sort file types.
Saved items can be grouped into “cases,” and Laytr also offers tags and search. The U.S. App Store listing says search can look through saved article text and text recognized in screenshots. A shared library is available across iPhone, iPad and Mac using the user’s iCloud. [TechCrunch] [Laytr] [Apple App Store]
What happens to saved pages offline?
Laytr tries to preserve article content by reading the HTML a website sends, but it does not run the page’s JavaScript. Pages that build their text dynamically in the browser may therefore fail to produce a complete offline copy. The app does not log in to sites, bypass metered access or strip paywalls; a paywalled or metered page may be saved only as a teaser. Login, region and age gates can also prevent a full snapshot. You may still keep the item’s original link when capture fails. [Laytr Support]

How private is Laytr’s archive?
Laytr says saved content is stored on the device and does not go to a Laytr account or server. When iCloud sync or backup is enabled, the copy leaving the device is handled through the user’s own iCloud. That is a meaningful distinction from a service that stores the archive on its own servers, but it does not mean no data is ever transmitted.
Laytr’s privacy policy says two diagnostics switches are on by default and can be turned off; the diagnostics do not include saved content. Apple handles payments, while RevenueCat processes purchase information. The policy is effective September 23, 2026, and specifies which app versions it covers. [Laytr Privacy Policy]

Can you bring over a Pocket or other read-it-later archive?
Laytr lists imports from Pocket, Instapaper and Omnivore. For Omnivore, there is an important gap: Laytr Support says the import brings metadata but not Omnivore’s saved article HTML or highlights. If preserving those article copies and annotations matters, do not assume an Omnivore import will include them.
Laytr says you can export the archive as a ZIP containing readable Markdown and HTML plus original files, and restore from a Laytr export. The press page says export is available regardless of plan. That gives users a way to keep a portable copy rather than treating the archive as locked inside the app. [Laytr] [Laytr Press] [Laytr Support]

Free limit and Premium prices
Laytr’s official product page lists a free plan with up to 30 saves. Reading, search and export remain available on the free plan; if you exceed the cap, adding new saves pauses until you are within the limit. Laytr says cancelling does not lock the archive.
| Plan | Price shown by Laytr | Save limit and archive access |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Up to 30 saves; reading, search and export are not limited |
| Premium | US$1.99 per month or US$14.99 per year | Paid plan; the product page does not state a higher save cap |
| Lifetime access | US$24.99 launch offer, compared with a US$39.99 standard price | One-time purchase; the press page says the launch offer runs through December 31, 2026 |
These are U.S. dollar prices shown on Laytr’s page; App Store prices can vary by region, and Laytr says the local price appears before purchase. Check the price displayed for your storefront before subscribing or buying lifetime access. [Laytr] [Laytr Press]

Who should consider Laytr?
Laytr is most relevant if your “save for later” pile includes more than articles—such as recipes, screenshots, videos or PDFs—and you want items to return on a chosen date. Its Apple-device scope, iCloud-based sync, migration options and export may also appeal to people moving an existing archive. The main practical checks are whether a 30-save free limit fits your use, whether your important sites can be captured without JavaScript or account access, and whether the Omnivore import’s metadata-only behavior suits your needs.
In an interview with TechCrunch, developer Mostafa Talaat described the privacy intent: “What you save says a lot about you, and I didn’t want to be holding it. Everything stays on your device and in your own iCloud,” he said. That is the product’s stated approach, with the diagnostics and purchase-processing qualifications described above. [TechCrunch]
