Neither Larix Broadcaster nor Larix Screencaster is documented as a player for prerecorded video files. Broadcaster sends live camera video; Screencaster sends a live device screen. If you want to replay an existing recording as a YouTube livestream, you need a file-playout workflow that supplies video and audio to YouTube’s encoder connection.

The difference is the source being encoded: Broadcaster captures a camera, while Screencaster captures a device screen. Both send live content; neither reviewed description establishes prerecorded-file playout. This is a conclusion about the documented functions, not a claim that no technical workaround exists.

How YouTube scheduling and the encoder feed work
Scheduling an event in YouTube and producing the video signal are separate tasks. YouTube Live Control Room creates the event; an appropriate encoder or playout system sends the video and audio using YouTube’s server URL and stream key. YouTube’s instructions for an encoder-based scheduled stream are:
- In YouTube Live Control Room, schedule the live event.
- In the encoder, enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key.
- At the scheduled time, connect and start the encoder.
- Wait for the preview in YouTube, then select Go live.
These are YouTube’s general encoder steps; the encoder still has to produce the content. For a scheduled prerecorded video, that means choosing a system that can play the file and send its audio and video as a live encoder feed. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.

Larix Screencaster on iOS
Softvelum’s documentation describes an iOS setup requirement for Screencaster. It also notes that screen streaming on iOS can use microphone audio, while audio from another app is available only if that app supports ReplayKit. This limitation is specific to the iOS behavior described by Softvelum; it should not be assumed to apply to Android.
The current iOS App Store listing describes Screencaster for iPhone and iPad and lists RTMP/RTMPS and other streaming protocols. It says Premium removes a five-minute streaming limit. Check the current listing on your device for availability and terms, since store details and capabilities may change.

The Google Play listing describes mobile live capture, including camera switching, overlays, local MP4 recording, and YouTube Live as a destination. Its Premium price and feature limits are volatile, so confirm the current regional listing rather than relying on an old price or limit.

Choose a workflow for prerecorded video
- For a one-off scheduled stream: select file-playout and live-encoding software that can play your recording and send its audio and video to YouTube. YouTube lists OBS as recording and live-streaming software, but its encoder help page alone does not establish the full procedure for building a local-file playlist.
- For continuous prerecorded streams: YouTube Help lists Gyre as a cloud option for continuous prerecorded-video livestreaming. Confirm its current supported formats and operating terms directly before choosing it.
- For genuinely live content from a mobile device: use Broadcaster for camera footage or Screencaster for screen content, then configure the YouTube event and encoder connection separately.
Do not choose one of the Larix apps just because the YouTube event is scheduled: the schedule controls the event, while the encoder or playout system must supply the stream.
