Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf your Larix Broadcaster stream looks sideways on YouTube, first check Larix’s own preview, then set the intended portrait or landscape orientation and choose whether rotation should be locked or follow the phone. Send a short test to YouTube and compare its encoder preview with Larix before starting the real broadcast. That comparison helps identify where the rotation first appears.
First, find where the rotation begins
- Check Larix’s local preview. If it is already sideways, begin with Larix’s video and orientation settings, then check the phone’s orientation behavior.
- If Larix looks right, send a short test stream to YouTube. Compare Larix’s preview with the incoming stream preview in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Use the comparison to narrow the cause. If both previews are rotated, check Larix’s orientation configuration. If YouTube’s incoming preview is correct but playback looks wrong on one viewer’s device, compare playback on another device before concluding the broadcast itself is rotated.
This is a diagnostic comparison, not a special YouTube rotation-fault tool. YouTube recommends testing an encoder setup before going live and monitoring stream health.

Set Larix to the orientation you actually want
Decide whether the broadcast should be vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape). Softvelum’s Larix Broadcaster documentation describes support for both orientations and live rotation. Its controls let you determine whether orientation follows device rotation or stays fixed; exact menu paths and labels can vary by operating system and app version, so look in Larix’s Video or orientation settings rather than relying on a universal tap sequence.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Setting or choice | Use it when | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait | Your intended stream format is vertical. | The output is portrait; verify the actual result in YouTube’s preview. |
| Landscape | Your intended stream format is horizontal. | The output is landscape; verify the actual result in YouTube’s preview. |
| Follow screen rotation | You intend to change orientation while broadcasting. | Rotating the device can change the output orientation. |
| Lock while broadcasting | The output must remain fixed as you move the phone. | Live reorientation is constrained until you change the lock or end the broadcast. |
For a stream that must stay in one format, choose the fixed or locked behavior if Larix offers it. Use follow-rotation only when you deliberately want the output to change during the broadcast.

Test the outgoing stream before going live
- Stop or pause before changing settings if the broadcast is already live. Do not assume a midstream change will correct video already sent or an archived segment.
- Set the desired orientation and rotation behavior in Larix. Check its local preview again.
- Send a brief test to YouTube and inspect the encoder preview and stream health in Live Control Room. YouTube says it detects the encoder settings you choose and transcodes streams for viewers; test before the actual broadcast so you can catch an orientation problem first.
- If the YouTube incoming preview is still rotated, review Larix’s app and encoder configuration. If that preview is correct but a viewer reports sideways playback, compare another device or playback view to isolate whether the issue is specific to that playback experience.
YouTube’s standard encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key in the encoder, then displays a preview and stream-health information after the encoder starts sending. The reviewed guidance does not establish a universal YouTube player rotation-lock fix.
Common problems and what to check
- Larix preview is sideways: Review Larix’s Video/orientation controls and the device’s orientation behavior. The documented controls are the relevant starting point; buying a mount or accessory does not correct an incorrectly oriented encoded stream.
- The picture changes when you turn the phone: The stream is likely set to follow device rotation. Choose a fixed or locked behavior if the format must not change while live.
- Larix looks right but YouTube’s encoder preview is rotated: Recheck the app’s orientation configuration and run another short test before broadcasting.
- YouTube’s preview is correct but one viewer sees a rotated picture: Compare playback on a second device. The available guidance does not verify a particular player rotation setting as the cause.
- You cannot find the same setting name or menu path: Larix’s documentation confirms the controls, but not one current tap-by-tap route shared by every iOS and Android release. Check the current app interface and platform-specific help.
Platform and configuration notes
