KT Cloud announced plans for a 50 MW AI data center in Cheongna, Incheon, South Korea. The company is the project’s design, build and operate (DBO) partner; construction is targeted to start in Q4 2026, with completion targeted for Q1 2030. Those are announced targets, not confirmation that work has begun or that the facility is operating.
What KT Cloud is planning
The planned facility will have two basement levels and 11 floors above ground. KT Cloud’s announced scope includes design consulting, major mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works, commissioning to verify stability and operations, and operation after completion. Hyundai Engineering is named as a joint construction partner. Yonhap News Agency reported the project details on 7 October 2026; KT Cloud’s official press listing carries the announcement date.

Will the data center support AI workloads?
Yes. KT Cloud says the facility is planned with separate AI and general cloud zones. The AI zone is intended for high-density GPU servers and is planned to use direct-to-chip liquid cooling. The announcement does not identify specific GPU models or provide further technical specifications for the cooling system.

How the project fits KT Cloud’s regional plans
KT Cloud says Cheongna will be linked with existing regional data centers, including Gasan and Mokdong, to accommodate customer expansion and improve continuity between sites. The company has also stated a goal of securing more than 1 GW of AI data center supply capacity by 2031. That is a corporate target, not a measure of capacity already delivered.
KT Cloud CEO Kim Bong-kyun described Cheongna as a potential key hub in the western cluster of the capital region, intended to serve domestic and overseas enterprise customers seeking large-scale AI infrastructure. This is an English translation of the statement reported by Yonhap.

What is not yet established
