You can play that PS4 title on PS5, subject to PlayStation’s compatibility caveat. If you’re buying specifically for PS5, the new KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] is scheduled for October 8, 2026, and includes KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. As of October 7, 2026, that release date has not arrived, and official sources have not published a direct technical comparison of the two versions.
What’s included in the PS4 and PS5 packages?
The key difference is the included content, especially Re Mind, rather than a verified graphics or performance improvement.

What the collections contain
- HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX includes KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX, Re:Chain of Memories, KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX, the 358/2 Days HD cutscene compilation, Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX, and the Re:coded HD cutscene compilation.
- HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue includes Dream Drop Distance HD, the χ Back Cover movie, and 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage.
- The PS5 collection’s description names KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. Do not assume the PS4 All-In-One listing includes the DLC: that listing names KINGDOM HEARTS III, with Re Mind shown separately as an add-on.
Can you play the PS4 version on PS5?
Yes. The US PlayStation Store lists the PS4 All-In-One Package as playable on PS5, but warns that some features available on PS4 may be absent. That is a compatibility statement, not a guarantee that every PS4 feature works unchanged. Check the PlayStation Store listing.

Is the PS5 version a technical upgrade?
That is not established by the official information available as of October 7, 2026. Square Enix has announced a PS5 collection, but the sources do not give a direct PS4-versus-PS5 comparison for frame rate, resolution, loading times, HDR, or graphics. The PS4 Store’s compatibility warning concerns features that may be missing; it does not promise enhancements. Square Enix’s general support guidance says game content is the same across different console versions, but it does not document the specific technical behavior of these Kingdom Hearts releases. Collection announcement · Square Enix support guidance.
Because the PS5 collection’s scheduled release is October 8, 2026, post-launch performance and availability cannot be treated as verified on October 7. Check the final local store listing after release for regional details.

Can you upgrade, get a discount, or transfer your save?
Discounts and upgrades
Square Enix says owners of eligible digital PS4 games can receive a discount on digital pre-orders and post-launch digital purchases of the new collection. Eligibility depends on owning qualifying digital titles, and the exact titles and terms should be checked in your region’s store. This is a discount, not a free upgrade. See Square Enix’s collection announcement.
Square Enix also describes general PS4-to-PS5 upgrade mechanics: some digital PS4 purchases may already include a PS5 digital version, while physical PS4 owners may have a console upgrade option. A disc-linked PS5 download or play path requires inserting the PS4 disc each time, and cannot be used on a PS5 Digital Edition. These general rules are not the same as the Kingdom Hearts Collection discount policy. Square Enix upgrade guidance.
Save transfers
Square Enix says save-data transfers between the platforms are unsupported, apart from the Nintendo Switch transfer path specifically described in its announcement. Do not plan on moving a PS4 save to the PS5 collection based on that announcement. Square Enix announcement.
