As PC Gamer reported on October 6, 2026, he expects AI to help teams make bigger games—not necessarily smaller teams. That is Klíma’s view, not an established outcome for the industry or an official Warhorse policy statement.
What did Martin Klíma say about AI replacing developers?
Klíma called the idea of laying off half a development team and replacing those workers with AI “a fundamentally flawed idea, because it doesn’t work like that,” according to PC Gamer. The “half the staff” scenario is a hypothetical in his argument, not a reported Warhorse staffing plan or an industry statistic.

His reasoning is that studios may use AI to expand what their existing teams can produce. If players continue to want larger games, the time or capacity gained from AI could go toward more content rather than fewer employees. Klíma offered more branching classes and additional missions as examples of what a bigger game could include. That is his prediction about how studios might use AI, not proof that AI will increase game scope or preserve jobs.

Warhorse has drawn a distinction between using AI during production and putting AI-generated material in a finished game. In a Reddit AMA, the studio said some team members find AI useful in early production, but that it does not use AI-generated content in the final game and has no plans to change that, as reported by GamesRadar+ and GameSpot.

In other words, the studio’s reported position allows for some early-production assistance while rejecting AI-generated content in the released game. The statement does not specify every tool or task involved in early production, so it should not be read as a detailed account of how each team member works.
How does the translator controversy fit in?
The discussion has a separate personnel context. PCGamesN reported that former translator Max H. said his role would become obsolete in favor of AI translation. Warhorse declined to discuss the individual employment matter publicly; the available reporting does not independently establish all the details behind that decision. The claim concerns a translator’s role, not evidence that Warhorse replaced half its development team with AI.

In a separate report, GamesRadar+ quoted creative director Prokop Jirsa saying he could not comment on any present or past employee because the matter involved internal HR. The same report said the studio planned to have the same number of human translators as on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and was hiring translators. GameSpot also reported that Warhorse said it was hiring English translators who would be “actual humans.” Those hiring statements provide context about the studio’s plans; they do not resolve the former translator’s individual case.

Klíma’s comments concern how he thinks AI could affect game-development teams; they do not announce an AI policy change or a new feature for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. The game released on February 4, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, according to GameSpot.

The useful distinction is between AI assisting people during production and AI replacing staff or generating content that appears in the finished game. Klíma argues against treating those as the same question: AI might help a team make a larger game without automatically making the team smaller. Warhorse’s reported comments separately describe limited early-production use and no AI-generated content in its final game.
