There is no single best Keywords Everywhere alternative for everyone. Choose Google Keyword Planner if you want a free, Google Ads-oriented workflow; consider Semrush or Ahrefs for broader keyword research; and look at KWS Everywhere if unlimited searches and local coverage are priorities. Keywords Everywhere itself remains a fit for people who want keyword metrics alongside the pages they already use.

How to choose a Keywords Everywhere alternative

Start with the job you need done: quick checks while browsing, keyword planning inside Google Ads, broader research across search engines, or competitor discovery. These products overlap, but they are not identical substitutes. The comparison below is based on vendor descriptions, not an independent accuracy test.

Option Best fit Workflow and coverage Free or paid details
Keywords Everywhere Inline keyword metrics while browsing Desktop browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge; vendor says paid metrics appear across Google and other supported sites. Free tier offers keyword ideas and other utilities; paid plans add volume, CPC, competition, trends, bulk work, and competitor-gap research. Annual prices and credit terms are detailed below.
Google Keyword Planner Free keyword planning for Google Ads users Research interface within Google Ads, rather than an overlay across websites. Keywords Everywhere says Planner may show ranges in some situations. Keywords Everywhere describes Planner as the source of its own search-volume data. Check Google Ads for current access and display conditions.
Semrush Broader keyword research and SEO workflow Its keyword page lists suggestions and metrics including volume, difficulty, intent, CPC, and long-tail ideas. Semrush describes a free tool with limited broad-match suggestions; its page says the tool is powered by Keyword Magic Tool. Free access is not equivalent to every paid feature.
Ahrefs Keyword Generator Keyword ideas across multiple search engines Ahrefs says it offers six keyword-idea reports spanning Google, Bing, YouTube, Yahoo, Amazon, and other engines. Ahrefs says its database contains over 8 billion queries; the accessed page does not specify a year for that figure. This is a vendor-published database claim, not an independent measure of freshness or quality.
KWS Everywhere People prioritizing unlimited searches or local data The vendor markets local keyword data for more than 40,000 locations, bulk analysis, competitor-gap analysis, and live metrics in Google results. The vendor advertises unlimited searches on paid access passes. Its feature and comparison claims are self-published and have not been independently verified here.

Best for quick in-browser checks: Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere is a freemium desktop browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. The vendor’s own FAQ describes it as a desktop extension. Its central difference is workflow: instead of sending you to a dedicated research dashboard, it places information alongside supported search and other pages.

What the free and paid tiers do

According to Keywords Everywhere, the free tier includes keyword ideas and a range of SEO, social, and AI-related utilities. Paid access adds search volume, CPC, competition, trend charts, bulk keyword data, and competitor-gap research. The dividing line matters: the extension can be useful without a subscription, but the metrics many searchers associate with keyword research are part of its paid offering.

Annual pricing and credit limits

Keywords Everywhere’s pricing page listed the following annual plans when checked on October 7, 2026. Treat these as a dated vendor price snapshot; the vendor says checkout configuration is the price reference, and prices or offers can change.

Plan Listed price Credits Seats and bundled extras
Bronze $84 per year 100,000 1 seat
Silver $168 per year 400,000 3 seats; includes SEO Minion and premium ChatGPT prompts
Gold $480 per year 2,000,000 10 seats; includes Keyword Keg and RapidLevelUp courses
Platinum $1,440 per year 8,000,000 20 seats, higher limits, and priority support

All four plans are annual according to the vendor. Credits expire after 12 months. If the credit balance runs out, paid search-volume, CPC, and competition data stop displaying until credits are added or the plan is upgraded. Compare likely usage and seat needs—not just the headline price—before choosing a tier.

Where it is not a substitute

Keywords Everywhere says it has no mobile app and does not track keyword positions over time. It can help with discovery and research, but it is not a rank tracker. Its competitor-gap feature is advertised, but the vendor’s materials give inconsistent competitor-count limits, so no fixed cap is stated here.

Best free Google Ads-oriented option: Google Keyword Planner

Google Keyword Planner is the natural alternative if your research already happens in Google Ads and you want Google’s own keyword-planning workflow. It is a dedicated planning interface, not a browser overlay.

  • SEO Basics: Like how to start a website and submit it to Google.
  • Keyword Research: Find the most promising keywords for your business.
  • SEO Content: Create content that even search engines want to binge-read.
  • On-Page SEO: The most effective way to explain your pages to search engines.

Keywords Everywhere says its search-volume figures use Google Keyword Planner data. The same vendor argues that its extension presents exact monthly volumes inline across more sites, while Keyword Planner may show ranges depending on campaign status. These are Keywords Everywhere’s descriptions of the comparison, not independently verified findings; display and access can depend on Google Ads conditions. If your priority is a native Google Ads workflow, use Planner. If your priority is seeing metrics while browsing supported sites, the extension’s presentation is the distinction to evaluate.

Best for broader SEO research: Semrush or Ahrefs

Semrush: suggestions plus more keyword metrics

Semrush is a broader research-suite alternative rather than a direct extension replacement. Its official keyword page describes suggestions and metrics for search volume, difficulty, intent, CPC, and long-tail opportunities. Semrush says its free keyword tool offers a limited number of broad-match suggestions and is powered by Keyword Magic Tool. That makes it a useful starting point for broader research, but do not assume the free tool includes the full capabilities of paid Semrush products.

Ahrefs: ideas across search engines

Ahrefs’ Keyword Generator is another broader discovery option. Ahrefs says it provides six keyword-idea reports and supports ideas across Google, Bing, YouTube, Yahoo, Amazon, and other search engines. The company also reports a database of over 8 billion queries, with no publication year specified on the accessed page. These are product and database claims from Ahrefs, not independent assessments of data freshness or accuracy.

Consider KWS Everywhere for unlimited-search and local-data claims

KWS Everywhere is a separate product from Keywords Everywhere, despite the similar name. Its vendor markets paid access passes with unlimited keyword searches, local data for more than 40,000 locations, bulk analysis, competitor-gap analysis, and live metrics in Google search results. It may suit a workflow where search volume or local coverage is the main concern, but its claims—including its comparisons with other tools—are vendor-published and have not been independently tested here. Check the product’s current limits, locations, and terms before relying on them.

Is Keywords Everywhere worth paying for?

It can be worth paying for if the inline workflow saves time and you regularly need the paid metrics across supported sites. Before subscribing, estimate how many credits your normal research consumes, whether you need multiple seats, and whether your use requires bulk data or competitor-gap features. The annual plan structure and 12-month credit expiry make unused credits relevant to the decision.

If you only need Google Ads-oriented keyword planning, start with Google Keyword Planner. If you need broader keyword ideas and SEO research, compare Semrush or Ahrefs against the specific tasks you perform. Those alternatives are not interchangeable on workflow, coverage, or access model, so choose by requirements rather than a universal ranking.

Product Hunt listing context

Product Hunt lists Keywords Everywhere in SEO and keyword research and names Semrush and Ahrefs as similar products. Its page records launches on January 18, 2017 and January 22, 2018, and displays a score of 2.3 from three reviews. That small, self-selected sample is directory context, not a reliable measure of general user satisfaction or comparative product quality. Separately, the Chrome Web Store listing showed 4.5 out of 5 from 5.7K ratings in the listing context updated September 17, 2026; that platform-specific rating can change and does not establish feature accuracy.
