Kaseya Expands Backup Portfolio and Acquires Email Security Specialist INKY

Kaseya’s DattoCon 2025 announcements paired an INKY email-security acquisition with separate Datto backup products and a Cyber Resiliency preview.

Kaseya announced its acquisition of email security company INKY on October 7, 2025, alongside separate Datto backup announcements at DattoCon 2025. INKY addresses email threats for managed service providers (MSPs) and small and midsize businesses (SMBs); it is not a backup product. The other announcements included Datto SIRIS 6, Datto Backup for Microsoft Entra ID, and a preview of a Cyber Resiliency platform.

What Kaseya announced at DattoCon 2025

The announcements covered two related but distinct areas: email security through INKY and expanded backup and recovery offerings through Datto. Kaseya presented them as developments in its broader security and IT platform, but they protect different workloads.

Announcement What it covers What was stated
INKY acquisition Email security for MSPs and SMBs Kaseya announced the acquisition on October 7, 2025, describing INKY as generative-AI-based email security. Kaseya said it planned to make the offering available through Kaseya 365 User. Kaseya announcement
Datto SIRIS 6 Backup and recovery Kaseya described it as 50% faster and scalable from 2TB to 25TB. These are vendor claims, not independently verified benchmark results. Kaseya DattoCon announcement
Datto Backup for Microsoft Entra ID Identity-data protection ChannelPro reported it was planned as a standalone offering and as part of Kaseya 365 User; the protected data includes users, groups, and roles. ChannelPro report
Cyber Resiliency platform Broader cyber-resilience capabilities Kaseya offered a preview; the announcement did not establish a full product specification or generally available release date. Kaseya DattoCon announcement

What INKY adds to Kaseya’s security offering

INKY focuses on email security. Kaseya described it as using generative AI and said its platform data would inform INKY, with integration across Kaseya’s ecosystem and availability through Kaseya 365 User. Those integration and bundle statements describe Kaseya’s plan and positioning; they do not establish how every integration works or what packaging is currently available.

At the announcement, Kaseya CEO Rania Succar said, “Kaseya is committed to being the indispensable partner that helps MSPs lead in this next chapter of IT and security.” The quote reflects the company’s rationale for bringing INKY into its platform.

How the backup announcements differ from INKY

Datto SIRIS 6

Kaseya said SIRIS 6 is 50% faster and scales from 2TB to 25TB. The announcement’s figures are vendor specifications and performance claims; the available evidence does not establish an independent test, the comparison conditions behind the speed figure, or a like-for-like comparison with other backup products. MSPs evaluating it should confirm current capacity options and performance against their own workloads.

Datto Backup for Microsoft Entra ID

Entra ID is Microsoft’s identity service, so this backup offering concerns identity data rather than email threat detection or general system backup. ChannelPro reported that users, groups, and roles were among the data it was intended to protect, and that the service was to be offered both standalone and within Kaseya 365 User. The report does not provide enough detail to establish restore granularity, recovery-time commitments, or current contract terms.

Cyber Resiliency platform

Kaseya previewed a Cyber Resiliency platform at DattoCon. A preview is not the same as a released product: the announcement, as reported here, does not settle its final capabilities, availability, or roadmap.

What the INKY acquisition may mean for MSPs

In a December 2025 ChannelPro report, MSP customers described INKY as filling a gap in Kaseya’s email security stack, with potential advantages in bundle economics and using fewer tools. These are customer views, not independent comparative testing. One customer, Solarus Technologies CEO and co-founder Matthew Nikravesh, said, “To be completely frank, Kaseya did not have a viable product around email security, and this acquisition proves that.”

Kaseya Chief Product Officer Jim Lippie characterized the move this way: “Knowing that we had to up our game with email security, we did exactly that.” INKY founder Dave Baggett, identified by ChannelPro as Kaseya senior vice president and general manager of security suite, said, “To do perfect detection now requires you to look at signals outside of the emails themselves,” describing the rationale for broader signals in threat detection. ChannelPro’s December 2025 report

ChannelPro also reported that Kaseya planned to sunset Graphus, its earlier email security product. That is reported transition context, not confirmation that the sunset has been completed. Organizations using Graphus should verify migration guidance, support dates, and contract effects directly with Kaseya before making plans.
