Jio Platforms has filed its draft IPO prospectus, but the offer’s opening date, price band and final valuation were not confirmed in the materials available as of October 4, 2026. A Fortune India report on October 3, citing sources, put the tentative public-issue window at October 21–23 and the expected listing at October 28; it also said the dates could change. Its valuation estimates were expressed in rupees and do not verify the headline claim of a $143–146 billion enterprise value.
What is confirmed about the Jio Platforms IPO?
Jio Platforms filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on June 19, 2026. The company’s IPO information page lists the draft prospectus, a draft abridged prospectus, an industry report and related audio-visual materials. Reliance’s corporate-announcements index also lists an observation letter on the DRHP dated August 28. These steps show that the proposed offer is progressing; they do not establish final offer terms or a confirmed opening date.

As of October 4, the reviewed issuer and regulatory materials did not state a confirmed public-issue opening date, price band or final valuation. Those details should be treated as unsettled until they appear in the final offer documents or an official company announcement.

The latest schedule in the reporting reviewed came from Fortune India on October 3, which attributed its dates to sources involved in or familiar with the process. It reported a possible Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) filing on October 15 or 16, an anchor-investor book on October 19, a public issue from October 21 to 23, and a possible listing on October 28. Fortune India cautioned that the listing date could move with market volatility. These are tentative reported dates, not an official calendar.

Earlier, on September 4, the Economic Times reported that the launch could come toward late October, with a possible spillover into early November. It said the company would finalize dates and hold domestic and overseas roadshows. That account, too, relied on sources rather than a confirmed opening notice. The later October 3 report narrows the possible window, but does not make it official.
What is the expected Jio IPO valuation?
Fortune India’s October 3 report described a source-based expectation above ₹13 lakh crore, with an upper possibility near ₹15 lakh crore depending on market sentiment. It also discussed a possible share-price band of ₹1,300–₹1,450. Neither figure is a final offer term, and the report did not establish that its rupee valuation was enterprise value.
The specific $143–146 billion enterprise-value range in the headline is not substantiated by the reviewed materials. It may refer to a prior estimate or a different valuation measure, but its basis was not established. Converting ₹13–15 lakh crore into a dollar enterprise-value range would require a dated exchange rate and a reconciliation of the valuation metric; the cited report supplies neither.

- Enterprise value generally reflects the value of the operating business, taking debt and other claims into account and adjusting for cash under a specified definition.
- Equity value or market capitalisation is the value attributable to shareholders. It is not automatically the same as enterprise value.
- Issue proceeds are the money raised by selling shares in the IPO. They are not the company’s valuation.
- Offer price is the per-share price set through the offer process and disclosed in the final documents, not an early media estimate.
How much is Jio Platforms proposing to raise?
The Economic Times reported on September 4 that the DRHP proposes up to 270 million fresh equity shares, equivalent to about 2.9% of post-IPO equity, with no offer-for-sale component. Bankers estimated the issue could raise roughly ₹37,800 crore. These are reported proposal details and an estimate, not a final issue size.

According to that report, part of the proceeds would be used to prepay up to ₹27,500 crore in loans at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, Jio Platforms’ operating subsidiary, with the balance intended for general corporate purposes. The final offer documents are the place to verify the structure, amount and use of proceeds as offered to investors.

What should investors check before relying on an estimate?
- Whether the figure is an official offer term or a media estimate attributed to sources.
- Whether it refers to enterprise value, equity value, market capitalisation or proceeds from the share sale.
- Which share count, price assumptions and debt-and-cash treatment underpin a valuation figure.
- Whether dates and figures come from a filed offer document, a company statement or a report that may change.
For a decision, rely on the final offer documents and the published issue schedule rather than treating tentative dates, an indicative price band or a reported valuation expectation as settled terms.
